Shirley Jackson you were the greatest.
ALSO TODAY: @raxkingisdead.bsky.social on Shirley Jackson suffocating as a faculty wife at Bennington. “Locals whispered about her and her family—even the trash collector gossiped about how many liquor bottles he collected from their house.” flaminghydra.com/the-friends-...
Lobbied for eight to ten months and got a deal in principle with the provincial government to get its support, all before a whiff of public information was released. But none of that was SECRET.
Bell: Nothing we're doing is a secret. It's all going through a standard process & will be subject to freedom of information requests & will be public eventually. #yqrcc
Someone remind me - do you get social license by lobbying in secret about something for eight to 10 months, then springing it on an entire province of people as a fait accompli? Is that what social license is?
Bell: We care about being a good neighbour. This isn't the only facility we're going to build. We need the social license to do this. This is a marquee campus that will set the standard. We are building these to the highest standard. #yqrcc
What a stupid fucking argument. I don't care if you talked to the adjacent land owner. You purposefully built this at the doorstep of a city of 250,000 people. How about you take good care of THEM?
Bell: We're very open to community feedback. This in not a world where there was no consultation. We consulted w/ all of the neighbours. We followed all the regulations. You can talk to the 14 more proximal neighbours, they have my cell phone number. We've taken good care of them. #yqrcc
Opening on the EXACT SAME DATE as the company is set to get its first real piece of open public feedback? Incredible coincidence. All they have to do is make it a long-term lease and they can argue they're also bringing benefits to the downtown. What Council could say no to that?
Here's the submission from the the Bell AI Fabric whatsit. I won't live tweet them going over this & will save my fingers for the Q&A portion. #yqrcc
"Chosen" is important. Remember that the first phase, pre-expansion, required no environmental assessment because the province allows businesses to self-assess on environmental impacts, to a point. Guess Bell cares more about the optics of environmental impacts than the provincial government does?

This guy got way more time in front of Council than anyone with a soul patch in 2026 should.
Hueck is explaining the natural gas system. Notes that we're not drilling [much?] in SK but the solution to an underutilized asset is to increase demand. So… burn more gas. Great. Climate will be FIIIIIIINNE! #yqrcc
With #YQRcc looking at the AI data centre today, it's worth remembering that Jeremy Harrison, intellectual giant, cited the presence of elected officials at the recent media event at the site as evidence of 'broad support' for the project. One reason that's bunk... leaderpost.com/news/sask-mi...
Learned today that Mish Way recorded all her vocals for the entire run of White Lung (except the final album) drunk on whisky. Impressed, unsurprised, and thrilled to know it. youtu.be/hzxpZO_jAFk?...

I guess we have an AI promotional organization in SK for some reason? Seems like this upcoming event might be a good time/place for a protest, if anyone wanted to catch the eye of the COO of Bell Media, the fed minister (invited), and the provincial minister (invited). www.aisk.ca/events/disk-...
AI in SK, by the way, founded by a guy whose professional life seems to have focused entirely on convincing people to spend money, and funded by the post-secondary institution he convinced to give him $35k. saskpolytech.ca/news/posts/2...

I did CFL fantasy for like two years with friends of mine. I also wasn't interested in doing the "work" so I drafted players based solely on how dumb their names were. Swayze Waters, first overall draft. And my team was totally middle of the pack. Nobody has to resort to AI for such things.
can’t think of a better example of AI being mostly a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist also it can’t help when this is your user base

An individual in Canada used ChatGPT for eight months to plan one of the country’s worst mass shootings. Yet, if you listen to politicians and media, the real threat of AI is a fantastical scenario where it might wipe out humans in ten years. They need to stop getting fooled by tech deceivers.
How much more proof do we need that people who are all-in on AI are cloistered thinkers (if they think at all anymore) who do not have the world’s best interests at heart????
Ezra Klein asked Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang about AI making kids worse at math and reading. Huang’s reply: “Does it matter?” Then he said he doesn’t know his own address or phone number. “We’re going to lose some fine intellectual dexterity.” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/23/o...
I've never seen tangible proof that multi-family developments hurt property values, ever. But someone always complains. These days I'm inclined to say if you own a goddamn mansion you shouldn't be allowed to complain about anything, ever. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Saskatchewan’s government: “The only metric for quality of life is work. We will burn down the planet to create theoretical jobs.” New York’s mayor, weeks after launching a free babysitting program:
Never been to the opera before? Now’s your chance. We’re giving away 70,000 free tickets to the @metopera at the iconic Lincoln Center. Go to on.nyc.gov/opera to enter the lottery. There’s not a bad seat in the house.
