"We also want to work with others to form a left front to give people a clear governmental alternative to FF and FG rule at the next possible opportunity." We need to learn the lessons from #GE24. #KickOutFFFG #SpéirGhorm

thejournal.iePaul Murphy: Clearly, the Irish left needs to unite once and for all ahead of future electionsA week on from General Election 2024, the People Before Profit TD looks at the fragmented left and asks what it can do to change politics in the future.

NATO lecturer Declan Power has an unintentionally revealing piece on Triple Lock in Indo today. He literally quotes the section of the UN Charter which makes clear that regional enforcement without UN endorsement is illegal under international law. He shrugs & moves on. #TripleLock #SpéirGhorm

Ireland has the shameful title as the puppy farm capital of Europe, with more than 122,000 dogs registered last year. No ban on surgical artificial insemination. No cap on the size of puppy farms. We need to ban this industrial farming of dogs. #BanPuppyFarming

What is government doing? €650k and growing is owed to lipeodema patients currently. Women are currently going abroad, having surgery, and are now unclear about reimbursement. Additional stress in an already stressful time. Ireland has so much further to go for women's health. #lipedema #lipoedema

Riverview Educate Together NS are still waiting. There's still no progress, and this is going to effect a huge amount of students, leaving them without an appropriate school place. The government must agree to the request for an extension. I'll continue to follow up on it.

The government's suggested pay "increase" wouldn't even cover inflation. Every worker I spoke to on the picket lines said they wouldn't settle for this insulting offer... Workers need real-term pay increases above inflation, without nonsense of "productivity" included as part of negotiation.

We all know why the government is against this. The pendulum has swung to the right. We know right across the world, attacks on the LGBTQI community are on the rise. A campaign of hatred of anyone seen as 'different' being whipped up by the far right.

Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, and right-wing Independents are pandering to this hatred, at the expense of the rights and lives of intersex and non-binary people. We have to fight against those trying to drag us backwards, vilify a minority, and divide us from fighting against those in power.

We need to ban AI Chatbots talking about mental health issues. Nobody should have to go through what the Raine family has. Maria's 16 year old son was driven to take his own life by ChatGPT. AI and Big Tech are a danger to our children. We have to stop them. #BanAIChatbots

Taoiseach using same spin he railed against in 2013... Where and why do the government want to send troops that they cannot currently under the Triple Lock? The only answer can be somewhere NOT under the framework of international law, since that's what the Triple Lock ensures! #TripleLock

Who can guess who said this in 2013?? Despite all the government's years-long militaristic spin, people want to keep the Triple Lock & Irish neutrality. This isn't the end. It has to get through multiple stages of the Oireachtas. We need to build pressure to stop them & allow the people to decide.

Government shamefully votes to abolish the Triple Lock, which is at the core of our neutrality according to Micheál Martin. This is not the end. It still has to get through multiple stages of the Oireachtas. We need to build pressure to stop them and allow the people to decide.

"What this is about Taoiseach is about freeing your hands and the hands of future Irish governments to send Irish troops to fight in illegal wars wherever you want." The people were promised this. This decision should be put to the people in a referendum. #TripleLock #IrishNeutrality

People must get organised to fight this. We're going to have to fight this to the end, unless we want to see young people sent abroad to fight in imperialist wars. You can see the full Leaders' Questions here (including Micheál Martin's atrocious spin):

youtu.bePaul vs Taoiseach on the Triple Lock & Irish Neutrality - 21/10/26 [Paul Murphy TD]Full segment from Leaders' Questions with Paul challenging Micheál Martin on the government's plans to ram through legislation to scrap the Triple Lock.#peop...

It's galling to hear government trot out the same Triple Lock spin that's been disproven time and again. "There's a veto" - There isn't "It's a reform" - They're scrapping it "We've a mandate" - They don't "It's for peacekeeping" - Why does it say 'peace enforcement' then?

"You don't trust us" - This one's true I guess... It's about freeing the government's hand to send young Irish people abroad to fight and die in US-led imperialist wars for profit. #TripleLock #IrishNeutrality #NoToNATO

Do they think people have no memory at all? We all know scrapping the Triple Lock is about dismantling Irish neutrality, giving the government the power to send young Irish people abroad to fight and die in US-led imperialist wars for profit. We want nothing to do with NATO. #TripleLock

"How can you squeeze blood from a stone?" Workers work hard already, and deserve decent pay for that work. The government's suggested pay "increase" wouldn't even cover inflation. Every worker I spoke to on the picket lines aid they wouldn't settle for this insulting offer. #UpTheWorkers

Put it to the people in a plebiscite. Despite all the government's years-long militaristic spin, we know what the result would be. In survey after survey, people say they support keeping the Triple Lock and Irish neutrality. Everyone has to fight this, in every way we can. #SpéirGhorm

Save Our Neutrality - a clear message from the opposition today. It is scandalous that the government is trying to ram through the end of the Triple Lock without even allowing a full debate in the Dáil. We will be mobilising to stop them. #SaveIrishNeutrality #TripleLock

Children cannot be left without places, with absolutely no chance of parents being able to get alternative places elsewhere. Parents have been left in limbo from January in the creche in TU Dublin in Tallaght. If work needs to get done, it must get done.

They refuse to put it to the people. Now they won't even allow a full debate in the Dáil. The government is going to guillotine the debate on their bill to fully scrap the Triple Lock this Wednesday, voting on it in the evening. #TripleLock #SaveIrishNeutrality #SpéirGhorm

Keep asking the government, they don't have an answer: "Where do you want to send troops that you currently cant under the Triple Lock?" This is about freeing them up to sign us up to NATO-led wars for oil and profits.

Happy to drop by Kilnamanagh AFC last Friday to add my brick to their wall. It's a great way people can help support a local club which now has very impressive facilities.

Outrageously the government proposes to guillotine the debate on scrapping the Triple Lock on Wednesday. They refuse to put it to the people. Now they won't even allow a full debate in the Dáil. #TripleLock #SaveIrishNeutrality

A show of strength from the community today to send An Post a clear message - Save our Sorting Office in Edmonstown! It makes no sense to force people to go to Grange Castle to pick up missed packages. Without a car it would take hours! People power will stop this move.

Homes, not data centres!✊ We shouldn’t be bowing down to the needs of multinational tech corporations while ordinary people struggle with bills and our environment is further destroyed. #Spéirghorm

The government's 'International AI Summit' was simply a red carpet event for Big Tech to drive policy on AI & Data Centres. Our energy and water should serve people, not Big Tech profits✊

What's the point of negotiations if there isn't a commitment in advance to give an inflation-busting pay raise to workers who have seen their real incomes eroded by 5% over the last few years? #FightForYourRights #JoinAUnion #UpTheWorkers #SpéirGhorm

Workers have felt their strength now. The government might have hoped that private sector workers would turn on public sector workers. The exact opposite has happened. There is widespread support because everybody is feeling the cost of living crisis.

Without a commitment from the government to give a decent pay increase, Wednesday should only be the first step. Next Wednesday could be even larger with workers brought together in major rallies in city and town centres after picketing in the morning. Up the workers!

Yesterday's strike showed the reality that it's workers, with public sector workers at their heart, that makes our society run. No weather forecast, no Dáil, no schools, no street cleaning, massively reduced hospitals. #FightForYourRights #JoinAUnion #UpTheWorkers

Workers should feel their power now. They didn't go on strike to for talks, but for pay that's actually more than they've lost in inflation.

"Streets not getting cleaned, the Dáil not sitting, the weather not being forecast. You see the power of public sector workers." The reason for the level of support is clear - people get it. A win for public sector workers is a win for all! #FightForYourRights #JoinAUnion #UpTheWorkers

Out this morning letting people know about Saturday's protest to save Edmonstown sorting office. It would be crazy to go ahead with the move to Grange Castle and force people to travel to Lucan to collect missed packages. See you at the Edmonstown roundabout at 12 Saturday!

Got talking to Elaine at the picket at Cheeverstown about why she's out protesting today with her union and other workers. The support from the public is really overwhelming. A win for public sector workers is a win for all✊ #JoinAUnion #FightForYourRights #UpTheWorkers

Talked to Sorcha at the massive picket at SDCC about why she's out protesting today with her union and other workers. The support from the public is overwhelming. A win for public sector workers is a win for all.✊ #JoinAUnion #FightForYourRights #UpTheWorkers

A win for public sector workers is a win for all!✊ We've been trying to visit as many picket lines as possible this morning. It's very clear by the levels of support that people get it - the government's feeble attempts to divide public and private sector workers won't work. Up the workers!

Got talking to Aidan at the massive picket at Tallaght Hospital about why he's out protesting today with his union and other workers. The support from the public is overwhelming. A win for public sector workers is a win for all✊ #JoinAUnion #FightForYourRights #UpTheWorkers

Energy vampires and job robbers not welcome! We were out between pickets protesting the government's 'International AI Summit', which is a red carpet event for Big Tech to drive policy on AI & Data Centres. #SpéirGhorm #NoToDataCentres

We shouldn’t be bowing down to the needs of multinational tech corporations while ordinary people struggle with bills and our environment is further destroyed. Our energy and water should serve people, not Big Tech profits✊ Homes, not data centres!✊

Massive pickets at Tallaght Hospital and South Dublin County Council this morning. The support from the public is overwhelming. If the government thinks it can divide private and public sector workers, they should think again. A win for public sector workers is a win for all. #JoinAUnion

Everybody should support tomorrow's strike. If you're a public sector worker, see you on the picket line. If you're not, try to drop by one of the many pickets to show your support. If they win a decent pay rise, it will help all workers to get inflation busting rises. #JoinAUnion #SpéirGhorm

Parents have been left in limbo from January in the creche in TU Dublin in Tallaght. If work needs to get done, it should get done. Government should step in to make sure it can be. Children cannot be left without places, with absolutely no chance of parents being able to get alternative places.
