If young couples can't afford children and care for their parents, or worse if they can't afford even one of those 2 things, then we've completely and objectively lost the plot to life entirely.

Risk aversion is antithetical to creativity and exploration. I'm open to debater but I can't see any reasonable objection. In machine learning if a model isn't given enough room to pursue clearly bad hypotheses it immediately overfits to consensus. 0 value at inference beyond Gaussian elimination.

It's kind of funny how $50mln net worth isn't even who we're referring to when we talk about wealth disparity, poverty, or tax reform. The vast majority of people defending the wealthy will never come close to becoming the subject of focus, yet they'll spend to defend their lords as if they were.

No, they were middle-aged men wearing powdered wigs, elaborately embroidered hostess jackets, silk hose, and shoes with enormous buckles and substantial heels. In other words, our Constitution was written and signed by drag queens.

Party politics is a greater existential threat than #AI will ever be. Complacency toward critical thinking is a far greater existential threat than any stock index. Uninformed, misinformed, or disinformed voting is an exponentially greater existential threat than warheads or border controls.

We better hope neuralink is never successful. If people think they're anxious and depressed now just from tv, social media, etc. just imagine how they'd feel after paying for a product to expose their vulnerabilities lending to their own exploitation from the product... "Like... advertising?" 😖

One thing I actually miss about MSN messenger was setting the "how I'm feeling right now" status, only visible to your friends not everyone on earth. That way they had a clue whether or not to make a bad joke or start dumping drama on them just to vent. It was like social cues, but for divergents 😅

I've taken a break, trying not to get too renty but I'm bursting at the seams a bit so I need to vent. The tragedy isn't high gas prices, it's the civilians mutderrd. It's the fisherman, the Latinos, police brutality, school shootings, and bring bankrupt for having an immune system gone rogue.

Comedy used to be an uncomfortable enjoyment, a forced reflection and social analysis wrapped in sugar and shared in a community. If comedy is left to poke fun at an ignoramus for its daily muse just because it's so outrageous and visible then we're not gaining any benefit from the process anymore.

If parents can't keep up with all the events, and functions, and organized activities, and vacations, and meal prep, and all that, then maybe you've just been sold sn idea that structure is safe and must cost money... Maybe paying endlessly to avoid all boredom isn't good for human development?

If we keep avoiding debates because we're anxious or uncomfortable it's only going to make us so supplicant and servile that any aggressor will dominate us and our children by simply speaking sharply or glaring in a way they perceive to be menacing. Exposure is the therapy, not sheltered avoidance.

When we spend our attention on screens and miss the nature around us, it becomes pretty difficult to make sensible choices regarding the resources we spend through our phones in anticipation of consuming more of our most precious resource - time alive. How well do you strike that balance?

If we valued essential workers who feared for their lives and were estranged from their families for years during the pandemic era then why are we still so selfish not to rescind capital gains tax laws and push up the lowest income bracket? Do rich people still believe they're admired by the poor?

Everyone loves to tell each other how smart they are and how much research they do, but they get belligerent if you ask them the last book they read, or research paper abstract that they found compelling. It's not a far leap to fascism when science is entirely feelings about headlines or blogposts.

Drugs aren't a problem for communities that don't abandon people and blame them for their addictions. If we want less crime and more opportunity for people to earn a living wage doing jobs that need to be done, then instead of glorifying high status jobs we need a culture to dignify all labour.

If we think national debt is just made up numbers because money can be printed then why is tax revenue servicing any of our national debt? If the argument held water we'd have a budget surplus now and every year for the past 20 years at present tax rates but that's not the case because debt costs $

People who can't afford things shouldn't be allowed to be up-sold to. As soon as you require public assistance there's a guaranty implied that you are not a candidate for excess, so if we can target customers to make money off of them then why can't we target customers to offer discounts? We can.

Teachers need the education funding, not technology aids or fancy playgrounds or ski trips or new grounds, teachers. Students can and will learn from a set of large shared tables in rows with 3 chairs per table - trust me, I did and I was far from a good student when I showed up. Chalkboards work.

"purchasing" digital content by lack of options, even though establish physical media costs less than the price increases from inflation, is extortion. If the physical medium isn't your license to enjoy it offline in private, it's not a purchase it's a rental. Sales under false pretenses is fraud.

Political attack ads should immediately disqualify anyone running for office because you aren't running FOR office if your votes are gained by being "not-them". If you have no redeemable policy or quality then you should lose or never have run in the first place. Voters are supposed to be adults.

Second, the issue with privacy is about feigning consent behind walls of terms of service that just so happen to be fluid unilaterally to the exploiters' benefit. It's not possible to consent if the terms change later, especially not when it costs 1mln people 1hr each to read every time it changes.

A lot of people still think morality is difficult when it comes to politics buts it's not. Look: If in the present moment you propose to both sides that none of their own will suffer so long as you stop shooting, they'll either agree or expose the aggressor to be gang sanctioned by the world. Done.

That doesn't mean that bureaucrats will win for decorum during war crimes, it means it's really obvious in most cases; when it isn't, it's still a really easy to side with the oppressed. Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, Iran, Russia, China, USA... It's usually pretty easy to point out the aggressor.

I really hope pension funds aren't still holding Oracle shares, that'd be such a red flag that the pension fund's fiduciary is slowly dumping their own shares first. Benefits plan managers and HR would be well advised to check in with their brokers re: NASDAQ ETFs, neoclouds and hyper-scalers.

There's nothing index-y about NASDAQ if they're willing to set new rules to accommodate huge speculative listings and force the unwitting public to gobble it all up via "balancing" portfolios. It is absolutely criminal the index hasn't lost its credibility already. Brokers should already know this.

Kalshi and Polymarket (aka #prediction markets) may wind up ironically increasing voter turnout by making politics feel more engaging to voters: 1. Voters donate 2. Candidates dump donated cash into bets to skew polls 3. Winning contracts paid back to voters funded by the losing candidates #dumbAF

#devlog: Man what a crazy morning... had nothing but liabilities looming over me over night then woke up to exceeding the week's target and it's only Wednesday. Still way too exposed so today we tightened lot sizing to higher precision, reduced max pending orders and max trades per pair to 6 from 8

#devlog: FOREX trading inference pipeline now scales volumes of orders placed based on account balance to scale exposure based on account balance dynamically. scrapping dynamic exposure gating by regression threshold for now, this system seems more robust. Testing this out for the rest of the week.

Politicians sure mention hard work a lot for a group of 6-figure salaried early pensioners who spend most of their working lives asking for donations and favours. I'm starting to think we should elect working people instead of politicians. Let elected people hire politicians for procedural counsel.

#devlog WEEK 4 is the ultimate start of the readiness test: - 4 models are now trained and simulated across unseen data all at greater than 55% win rate - regression thresholds, lot sizes and exposure gating are perfectly tuned to margin requirements This is starts the hands-off 2 month trial!!!

I can't wait to release FOREX models that break poverty cycles all over the world; giving first access to the poorest people on earth means that for a least a short while, for once, the people will have arbitrage against sovreigns and banks. And I can't wait to charge banks for the privilege lol.

#devlog - this will be the first week I have regression thresholds calibrated to the available margin, and ALL models in use have win rates above 50%, so risk management on targets/stoplosses aren't doing any heavy lifting anymore. This is the setup for the rest of the year before real cash down.

#devlog - so I've been running a solid 2 models out of 4 all week and wound up slightly down from flat (-0.05%) with a peak above the 2% weekly target but lost runway to stick the landing lol. But! I've spent all week targeting my cadusd and eurusd models, so next week aim is fully hands off.

#devlog - My dev bench hard drive once had a lot of free space for any project my heart desired but after only 3 weeks it's covered in models lol Up to 4 pairs per experiment. I've trained almost 200 ML models and simulated, compared, full gladiator treatment on each of them, I'm proud to confess.

Johnny Ives designed a Ferrari and approved of it the way I approve of the double mirror 2-second quick-check when I get the same haircut I've gotten for the past 20 years and never wooed a woman by way of coiff in my entire life lol

The funniest pod of the year. "Are you accusing Jesus of miracle washing?" and "do you think City will come out and give Liverpool the guard of honour this weekend?" "Ya, but they'll all be lifting asterix over their heads while they do it." Fully ROFLMAO'd this one. youtu.be/OIkQZ4Ag4Q0?...

Since big banks are protected by the promise of bailouts, and benefit from wusny trading using microsecond access to market prices, why is it not required the banks pay for the privilege? Quant trading is a privilege. Profits via "adding liquidity" ought to be the premium owed to the public coffer.

Politics isn't inherently complicated, it is rendered complicated intentionally by people who are also responsible for establishing all regulatory capture that exists in an economy. The same people who struggle with common sense over there, struggle with it over here as well.
