A great illustration that pretty much any question where somebody has a simple answer - the correct answer is, yes, but it is a bit more complicated than that...

The banks say they’re overtaxed. The TUC says they’re undertaxed. We did the sums across nine countries, and we're going to annoy *everyone*. The UK isn’t a high-tax outlier. There *is* a case for increasing bank tax. But it comes with risks - and could hit households. 🧵:

It's a great image, but is it just me that is annoyed every time it appears? That isn't wine, those aren't wine glasses. They appear to be drinking cognac. Santé, mes amis!

Criticised an online community dedicated to bizarre examples of electricity transmission infrastructure. I was not expecting that pile on.

Bugle's Global Hot Potato Report 2025: In what era of history would you most like to have listened to The Bugle, had it existed then? And what historical figure would you most like to have been a cohost on The Bugle? Crimea river, you know when... roll out Florence! #Bugle #HottiesfromHistory

I can't find the original artwork I made for this using Krita, don't know whether to re-do it. I think its a nice idea, but it can be hard to capture the same thing in a drawing second time round... You see a lot of Pepper pastiche #F1 #Krita #TheBeatles

Imagine the sheer unalloyed joy of wrestling the rear wheel out to discover the brake pads you researched minutely are the wrong ones. Arghh! Fire it all back together. #MotoSky

Guardian lead yesterday - “strong indications” that Iran played a role... Andy Burnham has said. Today *crickets* have to work to even find the story. A story that was moving towards 'local idiots get caught' was suddenly a major foreign terror signalled by the Prime Minister no less.

Took a Heritage Open Day visit to Brackenfell, a modernist house built in 1938 by Sadie Speight and Leslie Martin for Alistair Morton, artist and director of Morton Sundour textiles and Edinburgh Weavers. Such generosity from the owner, thanks! @grindrod.bsky.social

Happy retirement! I will have to now limit my enjoyment of Gardener's World to singing PARKLIFE! every time Adam Frost comes on screen. #Photoshop #MontyDon

I have to say the swift, coordinated response from the core parties to bodyswerve Clacton was a great move. Chef's kiss Whichever SPAD had to spend a tortuous hour explaining to Badenoch that there was such a thing as working with opponents for the greater good... chapeau!

Re-visiting Fleming's Bond novels, he regularly mentions characters 'sunburned', 'sunburnt' 'burnt and burned by the sun'. Never meaning what we understand today, red, raw, he means tanned, dark or brown, a healthy glow. Was this a general switch or just Fleming? @susiedentwords.bsky.social #Bond

He also has a habit of describing facial features as 'cruel'. Eyes and mouths in particular... I think he might even have described someone's hair as cruel once. Not sure how any of it actually works(imagine making the photofit!) but it works superbly in his style of taut paperback prose. #bond

As @hebtroco.bsky.social have been discovering since they started... people will tell you they want to shop ethically, they'll tell you they want to 'bring back manufacturing' etc. then when you tell them how much the real cost is... ...well it gets to ugly name calling about hipsters real quick

edconway.substack.comWhat Andy Burnham's £80 T-shirt really tells usThis isn't just a story about expensive clothes. It's about where things are made, about why you can't really trust what it says on the label and about what happens after the "end of geography"

old bloke in my local wearing this t-shirt yesterday. It's a case study in quite a few things isn't it? @nateo.bsky.social It wasn't actually this 'design' but the exact wording. Which is its own tale about AI slop and the ability to churn out cheap viral t-shirts.

These 'this is my tribe' t-shirts came from the US, show your favourite dog breed or that you love Harley Davidsons etc. As soon as a design took it would be duplicated. AI has made this process instantaneous. but it's been problematic for years.

reddit.comFrom the tf2 community on Reddit: So there are T-shirt bots on Twitter, that will steal artist's artwork if enough people comment, something along the lines of "I need this on a shirt!". Needless to s...Explore this post and more from the tf2 community

Such a weird choice though... My t-shirt is starting an imaginary argument with a fictional person. They hold a view that disgusts me and is making me angry enough to buy cheap merch... Ooof!

A rare find at Audlem Festival of Transport... never seen a VW XL1 before! A curio from back when diesel was a possible green solution. 310 mpg was incredible. So was £120k for a 1 litre VW.

Teams of scientists and engineers working around the clock at SpaceX on one of the most challenging problems facing the world today. Can they come up with the incredible technology that allows Elon Musk to 'land' a joke? Huge if true! cartoon by the always amazing @smoothdunk2.bsky.social

Not a lot of tme for bike pics on holiday in Morocco, but noticeable how 95%+ of bikes are C50 clones made by docker.ma - Me either, but they're everywhere! I'm assuming a Chinese Marok collab? Trad brands have had they're dinner eaten up. Fascinating to see what's getting bought en masse #MotoSky

I've realised why May's comment cuts through. He's one of 'their guys'. Also he's flipped it to a driving skills issue... go further make it into a Moto Gymkhana challenge. Who can drive at exactly 20mph through the course? Look the Stig can do it! Are you a good driver? Are you?

This post is unavailable.

Can you do it in your sportscar? Are you actually a gifted helmsman... let's see. Next is company Director Mike, Mike's in a Silver Birch Vantage, B0N8 007, let's see how well he can do it. We could call it Senior Prick Start

You know when you listen to a well loved track on different headphones and suddenly hear something new? Sat at work and Holding Out For a Hero has a great choppy guitar part in the right channel I'd never heard before... I mean its not like Jim Steinman to add layers right? RIP Bonnie Tyler

~Eighteen years later... back in India, a bit more organised, and a more modern bike, fuel injection and electric start! But still a long way from where Enfield have got to today #MotoSky

Note the same Karrimor fluoro backpackpack as in the first picture! This is still my holiday carry-on backpack, bought in Guildford when I went to big school in 1985. Buy quality stuff peeps!
