Bringing in substitutes who lack the required expertise doesn't just undermine the profession, it directly places trainees, their clinical professional training, and their future clients at severe risk.

This short-sighted management strategy also risks destroying the long-held reputation of a world-renowned institution. We urge Goldsmiths to halt these reckless tactics, value their expert staff, and return to meaningful negotiations.

We are deeply shocked and appalled by the strike-breaking tactics being reported, that the university is hiring wholly inexperienced substitute lecturers to replace striking specialists. This is deeply troubling. Art psychotherapy is a highly specialised, intense clinical pathway.

A day after Andy Burnham's announcement to relocate #mentalhealth services into the community, it was widely reported that 2/3 of NHS Healthcare Trusts are planning CUTS to their mental health services, to plug funding gaps.

This is a crisis that has to stop. It is not only unacceptable, it is truly heart-breaking. It will harm the very people who need support, and the workforce, including our members, who deliver that support. Mental Health care services, already over-stretched, desperately need more money!
