New paper: AppetiteCheck, at IMWUT (Ubicomp)! Can vagus stimulation serve as a low-effort intervention for overeating? In our study, participants ate 9.6% less and 23.6% slower during stimulation than sham! Led by Tan Gemicioglu & Tanzeem Choudhury, also w/ Jas Brooks & myself as co-authors.

👏 👏👏 The IEEE VR conference is setting up the reviewer's UIs nicely! Nice scoring system (a Likert scale w/ options from 1 to 8, #CHI2028 wink wink) and love the "Write here the helpful review you would like to receive as an author", beautiful reminder just before folks click send!

The conference organizers have responded to scale with a coercive matching process for reviewers. This will result in lower quality reviews from people who’ve been pressured to review outside their expertise and threatens unjust desk rejections for people who try to hold the line on quality.

Great essay by Ann-Sophie Barwich: "The lady vanishes" that explores how "the history of ideas still struggles to remember the names of notable women philosophers" with Mary Hesse as an example of this! Check it: aeon.co/essays/why-a... (shared by Anna Ciaunica on that other social network)

It's a wrap for this year’s Cajal Advanced Neuroscience Training Programme at @champalimaudf.bsky.social! 👥 We hosted the courses ‘Quantitative Approaches to Behavior and Virtual Reality’ and "The Brain Prize Course – Computational and Theoretical Neuroscience".

Fantastic opportunity at UChicago for neuroscience and biological science folks! (Plus you get to be Joel's colleague, which alone is a huge bonus!)

Cluster neuroscience faculty hiring at University of Chicago! This first year focused on circuit interventions and restorative neuroscience. Goal of ~20 hires over 5 years with different themes each year. #NeuroJobs #neuroscience apply.interfolio.com/190756

Can we all agree with need science approaches at all scales: yes we need toy models (my work is probably closer to this camp) and we need practical real world complex models too! We also need funding for all these approaches! Go science!
