Gunna go shelf by shelf of my 106 boardgame collection as I get the time to talk about the games. It'll be a long 🧵 for those interested. So here's the whole collection as is. For the most part it's organized with lighter games on the ⬅️ to heavier on ➡️. 2P only games in top ➡️. 🧵 All/#Shelfie

Can you door dash library books? I feel like that should be a thing. I'd pay a few bucks to have my book tonight rather than going tomorrow night to get it. I could probably be a hundred pages into it by then rather than just mindlessly watching tv...

How much does it cost to be considered an "amateur" in your hobby? I used to think #boardgames was relatively cheap but an amateur would likely be someone who has 20-40 games...at $40/game that's $800-$1600. That's not an insignificant amt. That's a cost of a really nice 3D printer or snowboard.

This has been my only grail game. Just sitting there waiting for it to come back around. I hope this gets done right and not done in a way where there is only an expensive delux-ified version.

Yup, it’s really happening folks. I don’t have any details yet, but I will likely be involved in some way. www.ghostgalaxy.com/blogs/news/n...

Remember as everyone seems to be attending Essen, you have tens or hundreds of #boardgames you can just play at home. Many you haven't gotten off the shelf in months/years...so they're basically new! You'll likely even have to re-learn the rules!

For posterity (I will forget) I doubled the amount of tokens. I knew I would need more when I made the prototype but being a good MVP steward, I only made what I needed to test the concept/game loop in case it crashed and burned. It works. Yay. 🎲✂️

Always tickled by the phrase "write the right rite" but it's probably because I'm cursed.

Had a dream last night that I was taught how to do boardgame design step by step and everything clicked for me and all of my designing potential was suddenly and inexplicably unlocked in a blinding fashion. So I woke up to a harsh reality this morning. 🎲✂️

Let's talk bad apples in your #boardgame session. A good group will have engagement and positive buy in. Players are involved and care about the game state and outcomes. So what happens when they aren't? What happens when a player checks out? Wants it to just be over? Goes chaos mode?

They've tainted the evening for the others around the table. They've given real reason for a table flip. Everyone else has put in engagement and effort and are wholly invested & you've cheapened it. You've handed the ball over mockingly w/ 5 secs left & given them a hollow victory. It's ROTTEN.

On a personal note, I keep a list of games to NOT play w/ certain people. It's a shame they can't handle them but I don't want to wreck my or other's experience. The list really seems to be growing for 1 player & it's looking like they might benefit from a new group that plays different games.

It's a breach of the social contract you all entered into when playing the game. That's why it feels like such a betrayal when a player bad apples at the table. We were all here as a group to play by rules & as intended. We scheduled this in our busy lives. We agreed to this as we sat down to play.

Even multiplayer solitaire euros can make you feel slighted when a player doesn't give a crap while playing. The bad apple player at best disengages and quickly takes turns but at worse becomes a cancer and pulls others into disengagement, sabotages the game, or does anything to "make the game end".

You go to an open boardgame night & have fun. Someone mentions Board Game Geek. You get on there later & see that they have rated games. You are f***ed. There are 45+ games until you get to anything that is remotely mid-weight (exception is WingSpan at 38). Weight isn't even shown on that view.

Whoo-wee! This one has some legs. After a self-playtest running 4 players, the main game loop works well and I like the feel of it. This one absolutely clicked. Its impetus was finally finding a solution to another design that I couldn't get to work. Hope this one holds up under more playtests

I try to be as environmentally conscious as I can in #boardgames. I play my games to death. I shop locally/non-Amazon. I would rather have a cardboard version of a game than one w/ plastic minis. I do have a neoprene table mat tho. I've convinced myself it reduces wear on my games & my table, ha.

In this article, I want to look at neoprene's environmental cost across its full lifecycle. Written: tabletopgamesblog.com/2026/10/06/p... Audio: open.spotify.com/episode/5USp... (Photo by Susan Flynn on Unsplash) #boardgames #neoprene #sustainability #environment #recycling

Oof. I placed this order back in Late May. Unfortunately Captain Flip's expansion's release date keeps getting pushed back. Here's to hoping it ships real soon. These are the only boardgames I have bought all year & I don't even have them. How do people Kickstart games. Waiting sucks

My sad little #boardgame playlist for September. With elementary-aged kids and a teacher spouse, Septembers are sparse for game nights as school kicks off. We used a game night as a session 0 for D&D, which was acceptable as we got a D&D day in as well.

My boardgame group played D&D last weekend. All of us were new except for the DM. It was a ton of fun. I think we'll continue our campaign at some point here. I was curious how our AP-prone member would do & it was what I expected, still AP but at least we could move them along most of the time.

Things that usually NOPE a #boardgame for me: 🎲 Only great at 3 players 🎲 180+ min playtime 🎲 Kickstartered 🎲 More than $60 🎲 Game that requires an expansion to be any good 🎲 Box size bigger than a standard-sized box 🎲 Sexualized themes or art 🎲 App required to play What's on your NOPE list?

So what are some exceptions? 🎲 Cosmic Encounter (needs the Incursion expansion for the Reward deck) 🎲 PitchCar (💵 & some extensions are too big & really needs extension 1 to open the game up) 🎲 Lords of Vegas (💵) I think that's it in my collection.

Will be my first real crack at D&D this wknd. My friend, an experienced DM, is running an all day mini-campaign/1 shot. 7 players, all w/ no experience. Session 0 is taking over boardgame night on Thursday to prep for it. Wish us luck! I'm playing a Path of Glory Paladin based on Don Quixote.

As someone who grew up reading hobby magazines, Senet would be right up my alley as a boardgamer. Unfortunately I live in the US so ordering back issues would cost about $15 a piece after shipping. I don't think I can justify that. Maybe one day they'll print in the US.

I like to think that he hands over the CEO reigns and goes "Only one person can save this company and it's me" and he flashes his cape and goes to his boardgame design studio.

It's weird being an adult sometimes. Like hey I just ordered a turtle sand-timer to decorate my boardgame shelves & I'm chuffed about it. Not that I love turtles (I have nothing else turtle in my house) but I had a pet turtle as a child & also the shell pattern is hexes which has boardgame vibes.

Every day I do the NY Times Wordle and Connections. Wordle is okay but my mom and I both do it everyday to send the results and keep in touch. Connections is by far my favorite and feels like a mini version of the boardgame Codenames with a clue giver who is a little loopy.

Jumping in with my Top 20 boardgames by time and by plays since I've started tracking in late 2023. You can really tell that we often play with 6 players. Good to celebrate what ACTUALLY hits the table. My 6 Nimmt cards definitely show some good wear on them!

Used to run a boardgame event for my direct team. We played every other month & then it got sidelined due to a pressing project. That project is almost done but now our team has grown from 8 to 12 folks...much harder to find an engaging digital game to play. Suggestions? Managed to get them on BGA.
