Well said - why on earth don’t labour shout about the stuff they’ve done

Claire S (UK not USA)@csav55.eurosky.social

Ffs Labour MP's, enough with the Burnham's government is going to be bolder and make changes faster. This is what Starmer's Government achieved under 2 years, there's not much left for Burnham to do as 70+ out of 95 manifesto pledges have been delivered or are in progress.

SI’m h an obvious concept

East Anglia Bylines@eastangliabylines.co.uk

Ever climbed into a car that's been baking in the sun and wondered why our biggest car parks don't have roofs? The Government was considering exactly that. It has now quietly parked the idea. Here's why it matters.

Reform are not strong - simply deliver for people It is simple but complicated by there being few resources

Bylines Network@bylinesnetwork.co.uk

Keir Starmer has resigned – but what could a new PM actually do differently against Reform UK? With the resignation of Keir Starmer, the next Labour Leader is faced with the difficult task of opposing a strong Reform UK northeastbylines.co.uk/news/nationa...

What gibberish- where is the cash for investment and defence- the new man won’t last long

Bobby Dean MP@bobbywdean.bsky.social

The next PM must focus relentlessly on the economy: 🏗️Go big on capital investment into homes, energy and transport. 💷Take on radical tax reform to incentivise job creation and growth. 🇪🇺Be brave enough to fix our relationship with the EU. The bolder the better.

And it’ll make precious little difference- the press will hound him from day 3 He still needs to spend more on defence and there’s still no magic money tree The labour MPs need to grow up The government ministers need to look closely at themselves as they nearly all failed to deliver much

One in six Britons think growth of Muslim population is ‘threat to UK culture’, study finds Majority say Muslims are as British as white non-Muslims, but hostile attitudes at risk of being normalised, says thinktank So the majority don’t see it as a problem That’s 5 out of 6!

And his Iran deal really was an excellent deal

Not ONE scandal. Obama was (and is) a true gentleman who worked FOR Americans to help enrich their lives, not himself to pick their pockets. We were immeasurably better off thanks to his thoughtful, steady leadership.

It’s also measured in US$ so a strange milestone / the wealth of historical figures would outstrip Musk - what about the maharajas weighed in precious stones each year. The Americans make big claims but not often based on fact.

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

Elon Musk, the world’s first trillionaire. And we know he does not do any philanthropic work. Imagine hoarding that much wealth while so many are suffering.

They’ve got rid of most of the good journalists- hence the introduction of journalists from other publications to explore topics

Ian Birrell@ianbirrell.bsky.social

The BBC is all over the place when it comes to news, sadly... totally lost confidence and direction despite many talented journalists

Try Yorkshire - Leyburn or Grassington

Bluesky, we're gonna do a holiday in England. Somewhere quiet and pretty without too many people, nice pubs etc. Basically a week of reading in a garden. Anywhere nice spring to mind?

The number of non private school pupils has declined too

Sam Freedman@samfr.bsky.social

DfE pupil data is out today and shows that the number of private school pupils has dropped 5.6% since VAT was introduced. Not 25% like the independent schools council predicted. Or the 50% we saw in some right-wing papers. 5.6%.

Labour have done loads of really impressive things- such a shame it’s not shouted from the rooftops by the media / government / MPs

AG@troyella.bsky.social

This is one of the most uplifting things I've read for ages.

Just like Rupert murdoch did to get his covid jab

Sylvia Booth@smfbooth.bsky.social

Talking to a young bloke the other day who has type 1 diabetes and I said the NHS is really important to you and he agreed but then went on to tell me that people from Pakistan etc. were coming over and using the NHS after only a few weeks of their arrival. Government needs to inform people.

BBC has stopped working on the google speaker - nice change to have peace for a while

Ian Dunt@iandunt.bsky.social

Turned on the Today programme for perhaps the first time this year. Instantly presented with three minutes of Chris Mason: glib, inane, uninformative, utterly banal. Turned it off again.

Brilliant question

Robert Saunders@robertsaunders.bsky.social

It's perfectly reasonable to challenge ministers on N Sea oil & gas as a response to the energy shock. But this is the exclusive framing for EVERY interview on this topic. No minister or opposition leader is ever asked if they'll "max out" wind/solar. It's always framed as fossil fuels v inaction

Cracking idea

John Stabler@geek.wales

If you've moved abroad and not paid taxes then if you come back you should be treated as an immigrant. NHS surcharges, no benefits, no citizenship for 10 years, can't be director of a UK business, no voting, need to take a test etc

Robertson is paid by the arms industry

flyingrodent@flyingrodent.bsky.social

Yes, look, maybe if the armed forces had spent less money on aircraft carriers and unusable vibrating APCs, they wouldn’t be in this mess. I suggest they try taking responsibility, cutting down on the avocado toast and living within their means, like adults.

Sincerely hope so

Donald Trump: “A whole civilisation will die tonight” Nigel Farage: “I’m the only figure from the other side of the Parliament that has consistently stood behind Trump, and stood behind the MAGA movement” Politically, this should be the end of days for them all.

Or refuse to buy anything American ever again

alexjungle.bsky.social@alexjungle.bsky.social

BREAKING: US Navy will not open the Strait of Hormuz Trump gives nations who import oil from the Middle East three options: 1) Buy your oil from US and Venezuela instead 2) Secure the Strait themselves with limited US support Or 3) Wait for Hormuz to reopen naturally

The toilets on the biggest USA carrier don’t work - it’s currently hiding near Croatia - frightened of Iran

alexjungle.bsky.social@alexjungle.bsky.social

President Donald Trump claims the UK “doesn’t even have a navy,” adding that it is “too old” and had aircraft carriers that failed to work. Doesn't look old to me, what do you say? I am covering the latest news worldwide, you can donate to my work here: buymeacoffee.com/alexjungle
