This behavior is deranged, insanely entitled, abusive, and absolutely alienating to any and all causes it supposes to support.

People saying Jason Arday "wasn't a victim" are wrong. He was a victim that, by the standards he personally agreed to in becoming an academic, did a lot of wrong, but hounding a guy to death is hounding a guy to death.

Not only is AI less than 1/5 of all data center electricity, but even just the consumer side of online video is way more as well. If these people really cared about the environmental impact, online video would be the issue.

Actual exchange I read on Bluesky in 2026 OP: "Datacenters? More like CONCENTRATION CAMPS." reply: "We already have concentration camps with ICE." OP: "These are going to be even worse."

Can we please be done with "enshitification"? It's so freaking naive to think, "Oh, things suck NOW because companies NO LONGER care about the customer, JUST PROFIT."

Yo @hankgreen.bsky.social: you cannot apologize to the mob. It's a moral panic you've been giving lip service to. You have to move past it and stop caring about it. Also, start making the fight about who owns it. That's the real fight. All of the issues are downstream of that.

This was what I told you for years, folks. It's about intellectual property. Look at every single video you people have been mad about, I said it was about intellectual property in it. It's about intellectual property.

i still just really feel like AI stuff is basically illegal. like I don't think a good faith interpretation of "fair use" entails vacuuming up everyone's intellectual property to build your chat bot. that sounds wrong to me

Kamala would have done it too. The difference is that Trump doing it is a broken campaign promise; the Democrats didn't even bother lying to us. Pretty pathetic the thing that wins elections is "being the one who bothers to lie."

If we’re adopting Yugopnik’s frame, he’s describing himself, too. Same pattern, just the “high-masking” version: it presents as sober analysis while doing the same pathologizing reduction. But there is no necessary mental illness for any of this.

There’s such a thing as just being an asshole, and both he and the people he’s attacking are doing the same move: dehumanizing via pathologizing. One does it in an absurdist register; the other does it in a rational-sounding one.

And further, turning politics into “mental deficiency” is basically a eugenics move. In a competitive, scarcity-oriented system, that logic trends toward sorting, exclusion, and “we should ‘manage’ these people,” if you take it seriously.

A parade is not a General Strike. Are they still out there because ICE still exists? Is commerce frozen until ICE is disbanded? Strikes have demands and they don’t stop until they are met or negotiated with.

Trademarking my brilliant new business idea, Third Place Coffee. Posh liberals will fall over themselves to pay $3 more vs. Starbucks to subsidize the people who don't want (or can't buy) coffee to have a Third Place!!

This one small trick drives people who obsessively hate AI crazy! You can make an em dash—which vastly improves readability for normal, not-insane people—by holding Alt and typing 0151 on the number pad on Windows and holding Option and Shift and pressing Hyphen on Mac!

Ethics is the practice of finding justifications to do things that contradict your worldview (NOT the practice of having reasons to do only things that conform to your worldview). It is a useless practice and a total waste of time.

The Right is reactionary—and so is The Left. The idea you could call the rejection of technology that creates abundance (a necessary condition for socialism) anything but the same kind of pining for simpler times they associate with fascism (whatever they think it is) is absurd.

It's not a privilege to be somewhat less disadvantaged—though it's important to acknowledge. It's a privilege to rule over everyone else, and a small percentage of people from all races is in the ruling class.

If Britbongers are going to talk about ~Indians being colonized~, maybe they could/should talk about the ones from India more? Or does that Royal Crown money direct these types a bit? 👀

The bad guys are always the ones telling you that you're morally and intellectually superior if you agree with them. (note: the bad guys can be on either side of an issue; their argument is the worst one and you should reject them and their tactics regardless of your position)
