Apropos of nothing, and somewhat unrelated to the normal subjects of my posts, I just thought you ought to know there are an incredible number of really remarkable #bluegrass musicians these days.

If you need any more evidence that MAGA and Trump-authoritarians are going to refuse to accept the results of any US election they lose, just listen to the growing chorus of MAGAs calling for a coup and military overthrow of a newly elected Brazilian government they don't like.

We're NOT having a free & fair election. We're having one where the authoritarian ruling party has made it very difficult to remove them from power. Remember purged voter rolls, closing of polling stations, restricting mail-in ballots, & gerrymandering. We need a massive repudiation at the polls.

Why don't companies building #datacenters understand that if they committed to building renewable energy systems, water-efficient cooling systems, and worked transparently with local communities there would be much less opposition to their plans?

I serve it as an editor for a mainstream journal. I just had 10 people turn down a request to review a paper. Peer review is critical for science and it's being overwhelmed.

Very excited that my new book, "When the Well is Dry" is now being released! It tackles the long history of violence over water resources and how to move from conflict to cooperation. And apparently this now has to be said: not a single piece of it was written, edited, produced, or modified by AI.

Reminder: no matter what Trump says, the Strait of Hormuz remains CLOSED. The black dotted line is the seven-year average. Current transits remain close to zero now, and have been since Trump started the war with Iran.

I doubt I'm the only one who thinks the State Dept ordering all non-emergency US personnel to leave Saudi Arabia is a clear signal Trump has decided again to bomb Iran, mid-terms or no.

Print this on an index card, stick it in your pocket, and take it to the polls with you when you vote. 18 US Code §592: Troops at Polls, prohibited by law. [You can copy the text in the Alt-txt box directly.]

We absolutely need to expand infrastructure investment, in improved #water systems, renewable #energy, EVs and public transportation, schools, etc. Instead, THIS is what we're getting: money for #datacenters and nothing else. Will this lead to the kind of country and society we want?

Kind words for my book When the Well Is Dry: How Water Fuels Violence & Shapes Peace. "An essential guide to understanding how water, our most precious resource, drive violence, inspire cooperation, & shape a more secure & peaceful future.” Sherri Goodman, former Dep. Undersecretary of Defense 1/2

Republican lawmakers are incensed about Trump's dismissal of Ukraine — and powerless to stop him. That frustration hit a new peak on Monday as they sought to address Trump’s decision to purchase Russian diesel, waive sanctions on Moscow, and potentially stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine.
