Some amazing trees drawn last week in Hawaii.

The next Let’s Draw Davis is at the Shields Oak Grove at the UCD Arboretum, Saturday oct 24, 2pm. Come and sketch trees with us!

We had a nice Let’s Draw Davis sketching morning last Saturday at the Amtrak station, a good group showed up to sketch.

Got a few compliments on my old Roma shirt today. Even met a guy from Rome, turns out he went to the Spurs Roma game I went to a couple of years ago. He had a Totti tattoo (fun to say)

Well this is very very nice on a Saturday afternoon. #thebeatles

Also out sketching the Davis Farmers Market again, it’s well hot today. Start of October, heatwave.

Out sketching the Davis community church this morning doing thumbnails for a possible bigger drawing.

Arboretum sketches (Davis California)

Today marks ten years to the day since the UC Davis Pitzer Center opened its new doors for the opening concert by the Music faculty and students, I had drawn the buildings progress from when the Boiler Building stood there before, to the new recital hall going up. Ten years ago now, wow.

After work yesterday I went down to the Shields Oak Grove in the UCD Arboretum, a place I’ve really not explored before, in 21 years. It was just beautiful. Started a new sketchbook.

It’s the first day of classes at #ucdavis! I was out at lunchtime by the roundabout next to the Silo, where loads of people were gathered to, as per tradition, yell at people for not wearing helmets or going too fast, and cheer people for wearing helmets and riding safely. Had to sketch it.

Two sketches I did yesterday during the Let’s Draw Davis meetup on D St

More trees in Davis

Sketchcrawl today at 10:30, will be a nice morning for sketching.

Up early to watch Lando Norris get pole in F1 qualifying, then had a 4 mile run. Now to watch Spurs huff and puff.

The Pence Gallery annual art auction just opened and they hosted the ArtAbout reception tonight. Auction closes in two weeks! (Both my pieces, drawings from Richmond, have sold already though! Always a nice feeling). Some really lovely art in the Pence this year.

Ah, sad tree news. The big Siberian Elm near the South Silo on the UC Davis campus, the big tall one that was leaning over a lot, was finally hit down, I saw today. I had drawn it a lot over the years and was hoping to sketch it again, but not to be. Goodbye old friend.

An old English Elm, planted in 1906, 99 years before I arrived in Davis, on 3rd St. & it’s an official Landmark Tree, there is a list of them on the City website. Maybe I will draw them all.

Another bad decision to stay in and watch Spurs, at least we didn’t lose, but could we maybe score a goal at some point this season?

Wow Pierre Gasly on pole in Monza!!!!

The difference between Monday and Tuesday was amazing

Did a sketch on F St today, taking a break from trees (though there are trees in this scene) Davis CA

Getting pretty smoky out there… #daviscalifornia

Let’s Draw Davis on September 19, meet at 10:30am on D St next to the ref phone box (outside cloud forest cafe), and we will sketch that area for a couple of hours before coming back together to look at our sketchbooks. Hope to see you there, Davis area sketchers!

Another tree, I think it’s a Chinese Elm, on the North Davis Greenbelt today.

I got up and ran over four and a half, maybe five miles this morning, I don’t know exactly cos my silly watch died again shortly into the run. Still, good practice for next weeks 10k Labor Day Run.

Another tree, this one’s downtown on 3rd St, it’s a century old male (so I was told) Carob tree, near Newsbeat. I always liked this one, today I learned that it’s as old as (maybe older than) downtown itself.

I was going to take the train down to the city again today, woke up early, but then decided, can't be bothered, too much effort. Feeling restless, need to do some URBAN sketching but just the thought of the long journey back at the end of the day wears me out.

Last tree of the week, California Buckeye in the UCD Arboretum.

Another tree, this is like treemonth or something, “Arb-gust”. No irony like those months renamed for silly things, not having it. This is a Coast Live Oak in the UCD arboretum.
