Super pumped about the Southern Alberta Medical Program at the University of Lethbridge (affiliated with the UofC Medical School)... Training 20 new medical doctors in rural and regional centers! We need WAYYYYYYY more of this... We need to train more of our own HCWs in AB! 1/2

Hey Alberta: is this incompetence or a full on intentional lie? 9003 Acute Care Spaces is NOWHERE near a record number for our prov In the late 1980s we had 17,790 acute care spaces in hospitals (~12,000 acute care beds, +LTC beds) 1988: 7.4 beds/1000 2026: 1.5 beds/1000 1/2

Premier Smith is simply not TRUSTWORTHY, and Albertans know it. She's keeps deflecting and misleading on the separation issue... And she's not trustworthy on healthcare! She's made promises she hasn't kept, and she keeps spouting random numbers pretending they are facts!

While our govt is fixated on making sure the wealthy can jump to the front of the queue, they have lost site of "our humanity" The leaders in Recovery AB - a silo far removed from Acute Care Alberta - are not working URGENTLY to solve this broken Psychiatric Access in our EDs 2/2

edmontonjournal.com/... Minister's office: "Four separate reviews... to understand what happened and identify where improvements are needed" = bureaucratic BS! Frontline Emerg docs have been telling them for years: move sick admitted pts out of the ED within 8HRs max.

edmontonjournal.com/... Take a moment to read. The math is simple. We have double the population with less hospital beds then in the 1980s. It isn't immigrants. It's govt's ignoring our hospital and workforce planning and building. It's lack of HCWs and BEDs! 1/2

Yup! I broke my leg this summer & was sent home with an air cast. I waited 9 days for surgery. My surgeon said they used to be able to fix same or next day most times but now they are struggling to get people in before the 14 day cut off. Apparently I was lucky to get in on day 9.

Let's talk about what is actually CURRENTLY happening in AB for surgical care: We are sending kids home with painful broken arms, to await surgery because we no longer have the staff to do it same day! Elderly pts are waiting days in hospital, in pain, with a broken hip. 1/2

Our HC frontlines are running on fumes and we can't afford to lose 1% of our workforce But an AMA poll shows 55% of docs would leave, and another 8% would retire if Alberta voted to separate from Canada This would decimate our ability to provide any semblance of safe care 1/2

I agree. When do we get to stop using the term, "allegedly"?

This doctor from Alberta, while talking about their healthcare, described 'profitization' of healthcare in Ontario! Are other provinces & territories going through anything similar? & Carney? Not a second to spare to end this healthcare corruption - too busy privatizing it with our airports?

Parksy@pfparks.bsky.social

Let's talk PROFITIZATION of healthcare Dual Billing is Step Three of the 3 step plan by govt 1 - Help pay to build private facilities 2 - Force more care in these private facilities 3 - Allow Dual Billing without any discussion - drives workforce to private facilities

Plus, your impending take over by the US would strip you of ANY health care.

Please get out there and vote YES to staying in Canada No to the other NINE Alberta cannot afford years and years of the uncertainty that a separation vote would cause. 2/2

Remember folks, you were warned about the UCP, in the lead up to the 2019 & 2023 Alberta provincial elections. How about now? Do the warnings land anywhere with you now? Elections have consequences. Vote accordingly, as in for your better interests, not what just what Grandpa voted for.

Everyone should ask the Premier and Minister what their plan is to address this? On what planet would this not get worse when they plan to move more anesthesiologists and nurses to private care?!!! 2/2

Is the Auditor General an independent body? If there are legitimate reasons for the delays for the report then he should come out and explain. At this point his office is looking like a joke and like a lapdog of a Premier who fires anyone who speaks truth to power. 4/5

Hey AB, do you even care about how much of your taxpayer money is being wasted on HC services that are objectively worse than they have ever been? 5/5

Now the Recover AB connections (which sooooo many know about but can't say for fear of being fired) are trickling out too! 2/5

And Danielle Smith wants everyone to believe that she doesn't even know Sam Mraiche, the guy who was in her inner circle on election night, and lavished hockey gifts and probably more on her! Where the hell is the AG report? 3/5

Check out this amazing kids book by Kaitlin Stockton This is a wonderful book that should be in ALL pediatric offices, walk-in clinics, and EDs. Perfect way to spend a chill Thanksgiving morning. So much to be thankful for, and having talented colleagues like Kaitlin is one of them!

open.substack.com/pu... More people need to understand this, and push govt to finally work on the solutions that are outside of the ED. Emergency overcrowding will only be fixed with DOWNSTREAM capacity and workforce... and only if there is collective govt will

open.substack.comMatt Gurney: Why and how our emergency rooms are doomedWe cannot fix hospital ERs without fixing the entire system around them. This is apparently valuable insight. Send me my cheque, please.

I'd encourage everyone to watch the full Real Talk episode... The Mayors of Alberta's two largest cities are (nicely) calling the Premier a LIAR! She does the same with HC, spouts a bunch of nonsense with confidence, even though what she says has no basis in fact or truth...

Hey AB, get your vaccines... our HC system is already struggling. The waits in our EDs are astronomical, and only going to get worse. Do your part to protect yourself, your loved ones, and our overburdened HC system. I got Influenza + Covid vaccines same day...
