Sometimes you look for lessons that the World Series winner’s play in the series can teach you about your own team, but I don’t think you can really teach “hit your flares and squibbers just hard enough in just these spots”

I like how both sides heard the (very sensible and preferable) calls to extend in good faith while negotiating, and while the owners’ stance is predictably “want more money,” the union’s is “don’t make me do work?”

Watching Pablo Torre grow up from young sparkplug on Around the Horn to national investigative ass-kicker has been gloriously satisfying

I love the Control games. In the first I get to play through a liminal dream of the 1960s while hosing weird demonpeople with the gun from Trigun, and now in the second I get to button mash hack-and-slash while flying through the air, shooting fireballs, and use a trans-dimensional bo staff? C'mon

Please remember to politely remind those who’ll point to payrolls that this is a chalk World Series of the two top seeds. Politely. Gently.

Anyway, NLCS Game 3. Remarkably even despite MIL +4. They traded big hits in the 6th and 7th, and aside from that the pitching did all the heavy lifting. MIL's insurance on a wild pitch and modest ground ball single only inched the line up slightly.

Cleveland kept it unusual after Foster Griffin veered way away from what LiveSeqer expected. The Rays stayed predictable, especially late when Cleveland pounced and salted it

The Brewers forced Yamamoto to scramble his pitching for him to try and salvage the early innings. They stayed thrown-off the whole game after that. Brewers never needed to deviate much.

Dodgers held the edge in expected runs for a while. Brewers did enough to get out of big trouble and stay close until closing it out late.

Guards too! Also The Guards

Brewers/Rays, if it happens, would be the double-edged sword of poking a giant hole in the owners’ hard cap agenda AND probably be a pretty damn good series

Hey, don’t forget: LiveSeqer can show you what part of a pitch’s flight makes it look like it’s going to be a strike. Here’s one of the splitters Yamamoto threw to Bauers

Misiorowski very clearly had stuff decay last night (coming down from a high bar, of course). Heavy 2nd inning probably had an impact, Dodgers just couldn't close him out

It’s wild that plays like that Chourio grounder get scored a hit instead of an error all the time, and yet the leaguewide batting average is still in the toilet

Sequence likes Luis Lara and Andy Pages against the SPs tonight. At least, as much as you can like a hitter against these guys

Largest LiveSeqer update yet goes live tonight. With some tweaks in, I expect the model will be about 45-47% accurate on guessing the exact pitch and 70% accurate on guessing pitch family given matchup, count, and base-out situation. So. We'll see!
