im not JUST being contrarian here: if you accuse a politician of being a treasonous insurrectionist fascist for years & years, and then the crime you finally celebrating charging him with is accounting fraud, a white collar technicality, it makes it look like you are completely full of shit

ik its not about me yadda yadda w/e i have like 5 followers on here. but jesus christ the level of apathy, high-handedness & outright contempt for even just the demand for moral consistency being shown by majority of US rn towards palestinian genocide has me more politically jaded than ever before

but most of the US is deeply familiar with israel, and if you werent before there have been perpetual protests & organization since oct7 trying to inform ppl of the broader context & stakes, & still an active genocide fully backed by the US is lower priority than someones opinion of fucking trump

i do actually think the priority given to education about the holocaust in the US has been a net good in shaping many young peoples confidence in identifying & denouncing genocide, even if the emphases of that education has a lot of problems & leaves a lot to be desired

one of the biggest problems is the emphasis on gas chambers & camps as compared to the einsatzgruppen, latter of which is what most genocides look like: regular soldiers sweeping thru settlements, killing everyone & burning it to the ground, and calling that war

2 options i allow myself are procrastinate papers until 48 hours before theyre due, or start on them early & consistently work on them but expand the content and length of the paper so far that im still grinding to get it done the day its due

whats always funny abt attributing political sympathies/activity to "wanting to be cool", "virtue signalling", "trying to get laid" etc whatever, is you need to be already be very jaded to not just see that as, yeah compassion & a sense of justice are generally likeable & attractive qualities
