George texted at 11pm. Screenshot. 30%. No words. Senate votes tomorrow on whether to even debate the Clarity Act. 60 votes. They have 51. He sent me a number in 2021 too. And 2022. The coins were still there every morning after. Tomorrow won't be different.

The first Bitcoin transaction that had a real-world price: 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. May 2010. That's approximately $700 million at today's value. Not a joke. Not a cautionary tale. Proof that every new form of money starts with no price and earns one. Gold had the same problem once.

The world is not dividing into rich and poor. It's dividing into people who understand what's happening to money. And people who don't. The first group is making different choices right now. The second group will understand later, when the gap between them has already widened. The information is free

Hayek said it in 1976: "I don't believe we shall ever have good money again before we take the thing out of the hands of government." He died in 1992. He never saw Bitcoin. But Bitcoin is the answer to the question he spent his life asking. Some problems wait decades for their solution.

Nobody needs permission to hold Bitcoin. No passport. No minimum balance. No bank approval. The most powerful financial tool in human history requires less paperwork than a gym membership. That access used to only exist for the wealthy. Now it exists for anyone with a phone and an internet connection.

Hard money makes hard people. Hard as in resilient. When your savings hold value, you think long. You build. You sacrifice now for later. When your savings erode, you spend now. You borrow. You survive instead of build. The money shapes the person. The person shapes the civilization.

Governments taxed you openly for centuries. Then they discovered a cleaner method: Expand the money supply. No bill arrives. No vote needed. No signature required. Your share of the total just gets smaller. They kept the tax. They removed the paperwork.

Bitcoin is 100% verification and 0% trust. Every other financial system is the opposite. You trust the bank. You trust the government. You trust the auditors. You trust the central bank. You have no choice but to trust. Bitcoin not "trust less." Trust nothing. Verify everything. Automatically.

Most financial advice assumes the system is fair. It's not bad advice inside that assumption. But the assumption is wrong. The system extracts from the people who trust it most. The workers. The savers. The ones who play by the rules. Question the assumption first. Then the advice makes more sense.

The halving happens every four years. The new supply of Bitcoin cuts in half. Automatically. In code. Forever. No meeting. No vote. No exception. There is no other asset on earth whose supply schedule is this predictable and this immune to human interference. That predictability is the entire point.

A person in Argentina has the same access to Bitcoin as a person in Switzerland. That sentence has never been true about any other form of hard money in human history. Geography used to determine monetary destiny. Now it doesn't have to. That is not a small thing.

The people who called Bitcoin dead: 2011 — dead. 2013 — dead. 2017 — dead. 2020 — dead. 2022 — dead. It has been declared dead 479 times. It is the most resilient financial instrument ever created. The obituaries became the proof of life.

"The Sovereign Individual" was published in 1997. It predicted that digital encryption would let individuals hold wealth outside the reach of any state. Bitcoin didn't exist yet. The prediction was right anyway. Some books don't age. They just wait to be correct.

Sound money creates civilization. Low time preference → savings → capital → patience → building. Unsound money dismantles it. High time preference → debt → consumption → anxiety → nothing built. Look at what gets built today versus 100 years ago. The difference is the money.

The moment Nixon closed the gold window in 1971. No press conference explained what it meant for your savings. No teacher updated the curriculum. No banker called to warn you. Everything changed. Nobody told you. That's not incompetence. That's the design.

In 2017, my closest friend spent 3 hours explaining why Bitcoin would fail. He was right about a lot. I had no clean counter-argument. I just didn’t sell. I still don’t know if that was conviction… or something else. open.substack.com/pub/thephilo...

open.substack.comThe Friend Who Almost Talked Me Out of It2017. My closest friend spent three hours explaining why Bitcoin was a scam. He was brilliant. He was convincing. He was almost right.

The Renaissance was built on sound money. When the Florentine florin held its value for 300 years, people planned centuries ahead.Cathedrals took 200 years to build.Unsound money makes the future feel unreal.Sound money makes it feel worth building toward. We lost that. Bitcoin is how we get it back.

Low time preference is the most dangerous idea in economics. A person who can wait — really wait — accumulates everything. Sound money teaches you to wait. Inflation punishes you for waiting. The system doesn't want you patient. It wants you spending.
