Today's 'flickr search of the day' "Chengdu F7" One of the most memorable days of plane spotting, perched atop a partially constructed/abandoned building in Dhaka. A few locals brought tea and a game that was similar to chess (guti, iirc?) and a really fantastic afternoon was had.

Kinda wild to believe that the 787 hit 15yrs of scheduled service today. Somehow feels both like yesterday and a lifetime ago. Anyways, sharing some of my favorites from the inside looking out. (ANA, KUL-HND 2023 | RJ, BKK-KUL 2019 | SQ, CHS-KIX 2018 | ET, PAE-IAD 2012) Would love to see yours.

Today's 'flickr search of the day' A little disappointed that Lufthansa A340 or A340-600 aren't even on the board at all. But at least found someone searched for "hello kitty toilet", which I do have, from an EVA A330.

Lufthansa's A340-600 is not the end of the line for the plane, but I'll miss being able to see them somewhat regularly. A selection of photos from Pacific Rim: SFO, YVR, LAX, NRT

Short thread on OR Zoo’s unique “Zooliner” locomotive.

It's a 5/8th scale version of GM's Aerotrain from 1955, pulling its design largely from popular car designs of the era. The full size trains were a flop, thanks to terrible suspension. That meant it usually operated far slower than it was supposed to. GM only ended up making 2 or 3 sets.

These new Amtrak train sets are like being in Europe but at half the speed. If they ever build the Cascade route into a proper HSR I’d never fly regionally again outside of connections.

Interestingly the train is listed as sold out across both coach and business, but is pulling maybe a 50% load. An employee confirmed they’re still selling the new train set with the seat maps/capacity of the prior ones for now.
