I’m mostly a photographer but I dabble in mixed media, alternative photo techniques, and whatever side quest comes along. I also was a forensic chemist half a lifetime ago. Any photos I post (other than reposts) are my own and copyright Elizabeth King.

I don't know if knowledgeable people will see this to clarify; I have a question about the SAVE Act. I've seen comments claiming that women who have been married more than once will need to show all name changes - marriage 1 name change, divorce name change, new marriage change, etc... Is that true?

So in these days of avian influenza possibilities, when we recently had migratory birds passing through our area (and have plenty of local wild birds as well), wouldn't logical people think that loose chickens might be an issue? Our county's public health office didn't seem to care.

Is it just me or has anyone else been getting far more spam calls lately? I can't restrict my phone to only those in my contacts (unfortunately). But I've been getting multiple calls/day where I used to get maybe 2 or 3 a month. This started in June. Did the FTC say they were giving spam a pass?

I "volunteered" to talk about doing multiple exposures in camera for my club in June. So I was playing around a bit lately. This is a double exp. of the same plant with the focus and camera position slightly moved.

In the creative photography class I'm taking this year, March was all about water. So here's a flower underwater with some cream added. Pentax K-1, Lensbaby Velvet 56.

I've been doom scrolling far too much lately. It just needs to warm up a bit so I can get back to hiking and find more spots like this. #photography #waterfall #stream #linnrunstatepark #pennsylvania

Since it's Valentine's Day, I figured I'd put up a couple of older photos that fit the day. The bowl of conversation hearts was shot on B&W film, printed by hand, and then hand colored. The roses are on color film. Both were shot with a Pentax 645N.

I'm taking a yearlong class on creative photography. For January, we are making abstract photos. Here's one I like. Yes, this is how I hope to stay sane. #abstractphotography #photography #pentaxk1

Well, not a great picture, but I’m stuck somewhere I’d rather not be. This is an edited view from a hallway window. Pittsburgh from Children’s Hospital. I just needed to post something.

I haven't posted in awhile and figured I'd add a shot of one of my older cameras, well, part of one. I think this one might even still work. #photography #oldcamera

It's been a few days since I posted, life is too frantic in December. This is a shot from last fall. I found the leaf while hiking with a friend from MA. I added a texture (shot by me) in the background. #photography #leaf #creativeprocessing #lensbaby #velvet56

From this fall.. We had much less rain than usual this summer and fall, so Meadow Run was very low. It was a great chance to see some rocks that are usually under water. #photography #ohiopylestatepark #rocksandwater

Here's just the bottom of a waterfall. It's kinda the middle because this is a double falls of sorts. Cole Run Falls in Forge State Forest in PA. #waterfallwednesday #photography #colerunfalls

I have a thing for leaves. The patterns of the veins, the way the color changes, the way each is just a little bit different by the time they fall... #photography #lensbaby #velvet56 #leaf

Since we have a snow day here (more because they don't know how to use salt or how to plow than the dusting we got), I'm posting a photo of some cool ice a few years ago. I think this is the 4x5 film version #photography #ice

Since I love waterfalls anyway, here's a #waterfallwednesday one. This is Cucumber Falls in Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania. #pentax645n #mediumformat #photography #film

On the first day of school in most years, I go hiking with cameras. This was one of the resulting shots. I know this is scanned from a print, but I don't remember if it's the medium format shot or 4x5. But it's definitely film. #photography #film #blackandwhite #darkroom

Here's a 4x5 shot from a few years ago. This was scanned from a print I made. The location was Meadow Run in Ohiopyle State Park. #monochrome #photography #largeformat #darkroom

I do go chasing waterfalls and this one is one of my favorites. It's near Ligonier, PA and is in state gamelands #42. #photography #waterfall #pentaxk3 #pentax

These are a few from one of my favorite places - Ohiopyle State Park (in PA). These were all shot at the natural slides. #photography #pentaxK-3

Here's a few from a trip to Carrie Furnace this past summer. Carrie Furnace is a former steel mill near Pittsburgh, PA that now has tours available during the summer. At least one of these shots is with the Lensbaby Velvet56. #photography #abandoned #lensbaby

This is sorta part of a waterfall near (but not in) Ohiopyle State Park in PA. The falls is called Stewarton Falls and this is looking downstream. #pentaxK3 #pentax #photography #pennsylvania

Another day, another photo. I was never on X or threads, but I do have some on Instagram, so if you follow me there, sorry for the repeats. Anyway, this is one I made with a 4x5 and some very expired Polaroid type 55 film. I really loved that stuff. #largeformat #photography #stilllife #polaroid

So here's an image I made a few years ago. It's a Mordançage print - it's on silver gelatin paper (darkroom process) and then has been chemically altered to remove some of the emulsion. That's what gives the brushed look around the iris. #darkroom #photography #mordançage

Several of the lenses I use on my digital camera are from Lensbaby. My favorite is probably the Velvet56. This is one of the shots I made with it a few years ago. #photography #lensbaby

Couldn’t have said it better.

We’re going to need our science & health journals, our universities, & our health & science academies to STEP UP They need to stop being risk-averse They need to champion science & evidence in the face of Trump’s relentless attacks His picks to lead the health agencies are ghastly & terrifying

I’m still figuring out everything here, but the atmosphere is good. I shoot with anything that records an image. This one is one of my earliest 4x5 shots. I hauled a Cambo monorail to Cucumber Falls to shoot these tree roots. #filmphotography #monochrome #ohiopylestatepark

My refuge is hiking with cameras. Sometimes the hiking is the better part and sometimes the photography is the better part. Here’s a shot from one of the latter. This is Jonathan Run in Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania.

You are up to date.
