Today in Louisiana has the prettiest voting stickers: early voting starts today and they have a new sticker design! I always try to vote on the very first day of early voting and this is the busiest I’ve ever seen it!

Here’s my own pic from the MIA where you can zoom to see the texture of rhe rye seeds on the wings plus the placard with the materials and artist’s description.

The 10 year old designed a quilt based on her favorite painting at New Orleans Museum of Art, (Scramble: Ascending Yellow Values, Descending Spectrum by Frank Stella, acrylic on canvas, 1978) and had me make it for her therapist! (Her fabric choices were based on what she liked, not the color!)

One of my favorite things about this time of year is helping my kid find the Orion constellation every morning at the bus stop, and noticing it going just a little bit higher in the sky each morning.

“The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.” -James Baldwin- (Untitled sketch: Pen and ink, pencil, and colored pencil, 2026)

Wayyyy too many books to list them all but I WORE OUT my copy of Heidi in elementary school from reading it and re-reading it so often. (I guess it maybe doesn’t fit because I don’t know that it changed my life? But it was a friend when I didn’t really have many of those back then.)

(Ugh that should say ROAN mountain, it autocorrected. Roan mountain is on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina and is one of my absolute favorite places in the world. I grew up hiking there often and miss it now 💕)

When the new school rules call for clear backpacks but kids can have a very small “privacy pouch”- We couldn’t find anything the right size sooo I made up a pattern and got it done! Small quilted zip pouch- 6.5 in X 4.5 in- I love the fabric she picked for it too 🐦‍⬛

“The older I get, the more I meet people, the more convinced I am that we must only work on ourselves, to grow in grace. The only thing we can do about people is to love them.” - Dorothy Day- (Pen and ink, 2026)

In case you missed this from me late yesterday.

Without checks, “cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government.” ~George Washington, Farewell Address #America250 #30percent🫥

Gluten free and vegan Van Gogh inspired birthday spice cake! Color matching frosting is difficult and so is painting with it sooo I went a lot more just loosely inspired than I had planned 😆 (Flowers.Frosting on cake.2026 😆 loosely inspired by van gogh’s Vase with Zinnias, oil on canvas, 1886)

Happy Father’s Day to one of the best 💕 (My dad is a park ranger who teaches people all about nature: how to enjoy it, learn more about it, preserve it, and protect it!) Dad, pencil and colored pencil on paper, 2026

Ok, Saint Jude is a commonly requested saint so I have a drawing from about two years ago, about one year ago, and today. Not to brag but wow it's nice to see the improvement from actually drawing so often, when I'd had to stop for so long being busy with the kids!(each about 1hr drawing)

Made myself a quilted colored pencil carry case 😍 it opens flat so that I can more easily find a pencil quickly, but can also open on just one side as needed if I’m out and about coloring in a place where I can’t spread out my supplies.

(Oh. And ribbon is on the outside so if I’m working on a piece and have to stop for a bit, I can pack up the pencils I’m using in the ribbons, so I can easily have the correct pencils ready when I am able to draw again.)

“When times are hard, do something. If it works, do it some more. If it does not work, do something else. But keep going.” -Audre Lorde- (Colored pencil and pastel and pencil on paper, 2026)

Go vote Louisiana! Unless you have an x-wing fighter that you’ve not shared with the class yet, it’s our only hope of defeating the dark side! You know the storm troopers and Vader are definitely all out there voting. The resistance needs to show up in big numbers too 😁 #teamdorkside

My fellow Louisiana peeps-super important that you know that there are other things on the ballot (amendments on all, local etc depending on your district) that have NOT been canceled. Don’t let the confusion over this make you miss out on voting! These amendments are the usual Landry nonsense…

Alt National Park Service@altnps.bsky.social

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry canceled congressional primaries that were already in progress. Over 100,000 absentee ballots had already gone out. Early in-person voting had just started. And Landry signed an executive order saying none of those votes will count.

Today for #caturday: my current favorite cat sketch- my friend’s cat crossed the rainbow bridge last week and I had this thought of him peacefully sitting in the doorway, basking in the love he knew in this life as he prepares to step through to the rainbow bridge.

Tomorrow kids get to wear their “favorite autism awareness shirt” to school, so they each designed one for me to make. (Using clip art, they didn’t draw the actual pictures.) I love them!!

(I bet you think this sermon's about you, don't you? 😆) (The pope- makes a sermon on his trip to Africa. To people who live there. About stuff that's relevant to their lives. All over my newsfeed "pope Leo's calling out trump!!" ... calling for peace … feud with trump... potato potato.)

(Totally get that his comments are also relevant to many leaders in the world! Including trump! But I’m literally seeing news articles framing this as a “feud” or twitter battle type thing. Which is weird 😆)

My church is starting up a garden to supply our food bank with produce and I’m so excited 😄 There are master gardeners in the group (my garden style is more plant a lot and see what survives.)So I’m just working hands. BUT I got to draw the Official Garden Plan because I am the artist of the group 🌱

(We are starting smaller, then adding more beds in coming years if it seems sustainable. This year we started too late in the season for things like potatoes, but future years will hopefully include them!)

Lots of different hamantaschen flavors this year, all gluten free and vegan so safe for all the kids to have 😄 It’s been a long month already, definitely needing some treats! (Funfetti, sunbutter and jam, raspberry jam, chocolate chip, “cheesecake,” and raspberry “cheesecake,”)

Someone gifted my kids little pocket constitution books for Christmas this year, so that’s handy to have for every single conversation about why what is Happening is unconstitutional that I’ve had with them since then 🙃
