When we say “Trump owns this war,” we don’t just mean politically. He’s literally profiting off it—to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. The next time he says high gas prices are “a small price to pay," remember: 🟢 Trump’s not paying for it 🟢 The longer it drags on, the more money he makes

cbsnews.comAs Trump brags about U.S. oil and gas company profits, his stocks gained millions during Iran warA report from congressional Democrats found the president purchased millions in oil and gas stocks during the war.

Hegseth wanted Eisenhower’s WWII globe for his office. His staff went ahead without the experts who normally oversee these moves. They broke it. It’s hard to imagine a better metaphor for this administration’s arrogance and incompetence.

Eisenhower understood the horrors of war and the importance of our alliances. Hegseth and Trump are more interested in obsessing over testosterone levels and cozying up to dictators than protecting our troops and our national security.

3 yrs ago, Maine suffered one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history. 18 people lost their lives. A city was shaken to its core. For all of Maine—and especially for the families whose hearts were shattered by the loss of a loved one—it’s a tragedy that will never be forgotten.

Today and every day, we remember the victims. We are deeply grateful to the first responders for their service and bravery. And we hold all those who continue to live with the pain of that day in our thoughts.

But let us also honor the incredible support + resilience that the Lewiston community showed in the wake of that terrible tragedy. And let us commit—to these families, this community, and all our fellow Mainers—to doing everything in our power to ensure nothing like this ever happens again.

I hear it all the time in Maine: property taxes are too damn high. So is just about everything else these days. And Republicans in Washington keep making it worse. Now the Trump administration is telling states to prepare to shoulder more of the cost of disaster relief.

That can mean higher property taxes, fewer services, and more money out of your pocket. Somehow, there’s not enough money for health care or disaster relief, but always enough for billionaire tax breaks and war. Working families deserve better.

The Israeli government’s threat to launch a full-scale invasion of the West Bank—following a clash between IDF soldiers and armed Palestinians—is incredibly dangerous and deeply troubling. The fact that Israel’s elections are just days away makes this potential escalation even more alarming.

Only hours after the exchange of fire, Finance Minister Smotrich announced accelerating the destruction of Palestinian homes, Netanyahu initiated a full lockdown of the West Bank, and National Security Minister Ben-Gvir called for the government to take total control of the territory.

The United States must make clear that such escalation is unacceptable. And Netanyahu must be held accountable. Not just at the ballot box, but for his genocidal campaign of terror against the Palestinian people—a genocide that’s being paid for with OUR tax dollars. ENOUGH.

The heinous attacks on Palestinian homes, livelihoods, and communities—with almost no response by the IDF or Israeli government—have been utterly horrifying. Now, the Israeli government is using this incident as a pretext to increasing its hold on the West Bank.

As Russian missiles were raining on Kiev and killing civilians, Elon Musk slowed down Starlink, Ukraine’s most vital satellite comms network (which Musk owns). And the Trump Admin knew about it. Musk says it was the Admin's decision—and he doesn't want to be seen as “profiting off war.” Bullshit.

cbsnews.comMusk chose to restrict Ukraine's access to SpaceX satellite network, sources sayA decision by Elon Musk led to restrictions on Ukraine's use of SpaceX's satellite communications network, people familiar with the matter told CBS News.

Trump and Musk would rather appease a ruthless dictator than help the people of Ukraine defend their homeland against an invading force. America is barreling towards the wrong side of history—thanks to Donald Trump and the richest man in the world. We CANNOT let that happen.

Trump is panicking about the midterms. In just the past week, he's promised: 💰 Farmers permanent year-round E15 💰 Cash settlements for Camp Lejeune toxic water victims But ONLY IF Republicans win! It’s one thing to make campaign promises. It’s another thing to use taxpayer money to bribe voters.

Trump’s disastrous policies have crushed farmers, kicked millions off health care and food assistance, and made everything more expensive. He should NOT be using your tax dollars to paper over his dumbass mistakes. It’s pathetically desperate, it's unethical, and it won’t work.

The Great American Beer Festival showcased many of Maine’s finest beers—and three Portland breweries won medals! 🍺 Allagash (Gold, Belgian Style Witbier) 🍺 Orange Bike (Gold, Specialty Gluten-Free) 🍺 Bissell Brothers (Bronze, Pilsner) Cheers to these incredible breweries for making Maine proud!

Last night at a rally in Kansas, Trump announced a plan to send $8 billion in relief to farmers who are struggling with record high costs. Let's not forget how we got here: Trump’s idiotic tariffs, coupled with his disastrous war, have sent the prices of diesel fuel and fertilizer skyrocketing.

Our food systems are fragile. They need meaningful and sustainable reform. And farmers need REAL relief—like trade policies that help American producers and investments that build new markets and bring down costs—NOT last-minute bailouts designed to minimize the damage Trump’s policies have caused.

Trump says Russia has been “fine on Ukraine." The same Russia that launched an unprovoked invasion? The same Russia that’s been bombing Ukraine to high hell? What is he talking about!? Republicans need to find a spine and stand up to Trump over his betrayal of Ukraine. This blood is on OUR hands.

Republicans love to talk about how they’re “on the side of working people.” Trump himself promised to make life more affordable for families. They’ve done the exact opposite. According to a new report, the Administration’s economic agenda has driven up costs for everyone EXCEPT the wealthiest 1%!

Between the Big Ugly Bill, killing the ACA tax credits, his reckless tariffs and his disastrous war, Trump has made life significantly harder for millions of Americans. Democrats are fighting for policies that help hardworking people. Republicans are fighting for billionaires and big corporations.

usatoday.comTrump's policies raised costs for all but the top 1%, report saysTrump ran on tax cuts. But his economic policies have driven up taxes and costs for all but the wealthiest 1% of Americans, a think tank reports.

Keeping clothes in use longer can cut pollution and create opportunities for American businesses that repair, reuse, and recycle them. I recently introduced the Textile Waste Reduction Act to help lay the foundation for a more coordinated national response. Congress must seize this opportunity.

This morning, my Portland office received a suspicious letter consistent with those received by other congressional and election offices in recent days. I'm grateful to the Portland Police and Fire Departments and FBI for responding quickly and helping keep my staff and others in the building safe.

U.S. Capitol Police has been notified. We cannot accept threats and intimidation as a normal part of our politics. The people who work in congressional offices and administer our elections are public servants dedicated to helping their communities. They deserve to do that work without fear.

Political disagreement is part of a healthy democracy. Threatening the people who keep it running is unacceptable. My team and I will not be deterred from our work. We will continue showing up for the people of Maine.

Just last month, 348 members of Congress, myself included, voted to impose new sanctions on Russia. Trump just waived them with the stroke of a pen. First his diesel “deal.” Now this. He keeps handing Putin economic lifelines and pumping billions into his war chest.

Great to see the Roux Institute’s new Portland campus taking shape!   I’m proud to have secured more than $1 million in federal funding for equipment to help turn Maine resources like timber + seaweed into sustainable products—and prepare students for good jobs here at home.

We know Trump admires Putin. We know his diesel “deal” puts money in Putin’s war chest. But this Reuters report takes his betrayal to a whole new level. Reuters reports the order to restrict the satellite system Ukraine uses to defend itself against Russia CAME FROM INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE.

Trump is actively realigning American policy to side with Russia instead of our allies. It is a betrayal to Ukrainians, to Europe, and to Americans. Disrupting Ukrainian operations in favor of Putin puts blood on our hands. Putin couldn’t ask for a better accomplice.

The cost of heating oil has surged 60% since last February—80% here in Maine. At ~$6 per gallon, a 250-gallon fill-up costs about $1,500. Many Maine families will have to fill up more than once. That’s a massive expense—at a time when food and health care costs are also rising. This is a crisis.

punchbowl.newsChris Pappas leads $3 billion LIHEAP supplemental pushRep. Chris Pappas is leading more than 70 Democrats in calling for $3 billion in emergency supplemental appropriations for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Today, I joined a bipartisan group of 73 House members in calling on the House Appropriations Committee to provide an additional $3 billion in emergency supplemental appropriations for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

The $4 billion currently set aside for LIHEAP simply won’t be enough to meet the expected demand. The Republicans who control the Appropriations Committee need to step up and do the right thing—and ensure that our most vulnerable populations don’t freeze this winter.

🧵 Cornell’s handling of the sickening allegations on its campus is an outrage. Title IX protections extend beyond sports. They ensure students can pursue an education free from sexual assault, harassment, and discrimination. They mean little if the government doesn't hold schools accountable.

That’s why the reinstatement of a Trump 1 Title IX rule is so alarming. The rule narrows the definition of harassment and limits the responsibility of schools. I joined 98 colleagues in a @demwomencaucus.bsky.social letter demanding the Education Dept. investigate the Admin's Title IX enforcement.

washingtonpost.comDemocratic women’s caucus demands Trump administration changes after Cornell accusationsThe lawmakers said the case “raised questions about the Title IX process and discipline imposed by Cornell University.”

Every student, regardless of gender, deserves safety and support—and a thorough, fair investigation when they report violence. These are basic obligations. Cornell owes its students answers. Survivors deserve action. And every institution that fails to meet its obligations must face consequences.
