Angela Paxton is known nationally mostly for her estranged husband’s Senate campaign. Yet the conservative state senator is also helping lead a movement to end dark money super PACs, through a constitutional amendment. “We’re at a tipping point,” she says. www.washingtonsun.com/us-news/ange...

This was a fascinating 535 interview that accidentally ended up talking about “War Games” and @edmarkey.bsky.social as the producer’s inspiration. Would you like to play game?

535 News@535news.bsky.social

Did you know @markey.senate.gov helped inspire WarGames? He tells @pkcapitol.bsky.social and Colby Itkowitz that producer Leonard Goldberg credited his work on the nuclear freeze movement — including the massive 1982 Central Park rally — with inspiring the Cold War classic. Watch:

Great look at how congressional stock trading has become such an effective weapon in elections — even as a congressional effort to actually do something about it fell apart Wednesday. From @pkcapitol.bsky.social and Avani Kalra of @washingtonsun.bsky.social: www.washingtonsun.com/money/stock-...

washingtonsun.comStock Trading Emerges as a Brutal Weapon for Both PartiesThe perception of insider trading has prompted a wave of attack ads, and a last-ditch Senate vote.

It was unintentional but poetic how NYT print A12 jump page had these 2 stories, inherently about how modern society grapples with how to treat kids: should they play football and when should they be allowed online? So different and yet so similar in emotional discourse.

How a 30-year friendship frayed over Rs & Trump. Once considered “running mates,” Lindsey Graham & Mark Sanford drifted apart. In a twist from Appalachia to Argentina, Graham ended up exalted with a state funeral & Sanford alone on a river bank. My @notus.com column: www.notus.org/analysis/lin...

A very fun look at the culture of Congress.

This was a great conversation about how a baseball game can do what no amount of new-member orientations do: Brings lawmakers together. Give a listen.

How did Rs lost control of those House votes this evening? It was another weird day they weren’t the majority. This vote screen shows Ys & Ns tallied. But if you tally by party, this is the result: Rs - 209 Dems - 210 Independent - 1** ** - Kiley caucuses with Rs, so it was kinda 210-210 tie.
