This is a historic, highly significant, and particularly revealing development. The conservative PP has reached an electoral agreement with the far-right VOX concerning elections to the Senate, the upper chamber, as part of next monthโ€™s Spanish general elections. efe.com/espana/2026-...

Nobody's shocked that Jason Miller is the one posting Bolsonaro's refusal to concede. Trumpworld isn't just watching Brazil, they're coordinating. Same playbook, same people, different country. The authoritarian network is global, and it's poison.

Very excited about the Brexit debate becoming about why rejoin might get us 'better' immigrants......

Point ๐Ÿ‘‡ (also, free movement of LABOUR)

Steve Peers@stevepeers.bsky.social

The numbers aren't capped as such under free movement, but people cannot move solely to claim benefits and serious criminals can be expelled or refused entry - so "unlimited" is misleading

Obviously I want the utmost damage to Trump in the midterms, for Congress to constrain him & for a Democrat president in a couple years time. But honestly something broke in my relationship w America when Trump won the second time. I can't imagine feeling excited for an American president again.

Omg, heโ€™s done the core readings for this week!

Burnham said the type of migration experienced during the years of EU membership was different from todayโ€™s challenges: โ€œIt was generally younger people, not always, but spending a few years, then going back. Obviously the ease of that worked for Brits as well.โ€ www.irishtimes.com/world/uk/202...

Point ๐Ÿ‘‡

Nathan Newman@nathansnewman.bsky.social

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.

Yusuf Sarfati@yusufsarfati.bsky.social

The fact that Graham mentioned these three (and not others) as the top issues show that the Christian Right is totally subsumed into the xenophobic worldview of the far-right.

Repeat after me: 1) PIP isn't an out of work benefit. It is a benefit paid to disabled people to pay for the extra costs of living with a disability. 2) Some PIP claimants work. Some PIP claimants will never able to work at all. 3) Impoverishing people doesn't get them closer to employment

Jonathan Portes@jdportes.bsky.social

Not a fan of the framing of this or other forms of inequality as a "postcode lottery" or (next post) "how postcodes shape lives." Place/geography matters. But it's *overwhelmingly* about income/education/SES. The lottery is about who your parents are, not where you're born.
