I’m at Auckland right now, it’s 8pm and the wait time is 6 hours. These people aren’t getting in until 2am…

The fourth PC had stopped to help the lady on the side of the road (who turns out to be a bastard daughter of Pellinore) and subsequently defeated a lion in single combat. They told him a fake story about Hontzlake stabbing Pellinore in the back and them killing Hontzlake in retaliation...

Upon their return they were fêted as the most honorable of knights — the rot at the heart of Arthur’s court.

… it was going badly for the PC but then another struck Pellinore from behind, the first grappled and pinned him and the other two stabbed him to death while the first choked him. They then killed Hontzlake to cover up their crime.

Nimue told them their debt was paid, smeared their squire’s lips with blood of the two knights to seal them from telling anyone, and told them she knows she can now trust them body and soul. She will tell the court that they rescued her.

(semi-spoiler but well-known) This was the abduction of Nimue from Arthur’s wedding feast, where Pellinore rides off to rescue her from Hontzlake. They had previously met Nimue while lost in the forest and owed her a boon, so they chased after.

They caught Hontzlake first and defeated him, but upon his arrival Pellinore stated he'll take her back as it was his quest. They are sick of old-ways “might is right” knights so one challenged him to a fight on foot…

I ordered a copy of Shaughnessy’s Unearthing the Changes: Recently Discovered Manuscripts of the Yi Jing (I Ching) and Related Texts 2 months later it has arrived

they’ve now completed Silent Titan’s R8BY and Brom and the players keep finding new connections that they think are hints linking back to their “old selves” in the previous adventures as Pendragon knights, it’s great, they’re doing my work for me

am I stumbling my way into running something that is both Pendragon and Silent Titans at the same time? I sure hope so!

Brom is particularly good to start in media res where they’re just players who are setting up for the session and the GM is asking them questions, but they’ve forgotten that they entered a dungeon a few hours ago…

seriously; pick a low power device from some time in the last 5 years and try your site on it “opening vscode” is a struggle, every UI is janky

I realize that this is a crazy-person thing to say but I’ve done some statistical analysis on the Yi Jing and everyone has read it wrong

Went for a short 3km walk in Tãwharanui and unexpectedly spotted Toutouwai (NZ Robin), Tieke (Saddleback) & Pāteke (Brown Teal)… along with the standard Tüï, lots of Korimako, Kererü, a bunch of Pōpokotea, and a silly number of Piwakawaka. Do recommend! all my bird photos were bad so some walkways:

also it was ridiculous for a winter’s day bonus Tuna pile, at the Matakana market, where apparently the entire population of Auckland descended

I do think Rust should have had different traits for 1:1 (injective) conversions vs those that might normalize/be non-invertible

I’m not parochial about much, but I do feel that what the government is planning to with conservation lands is essentially treason

when I ran Hot Springs Island the opera scene from the Fifth Element was the centerpiece

Chris Person@papapishu.bsky.social

“The average movie does not contain the Opera Scene From The Fifth Element and, in fact, the most number of Opera Scenes from the Fifth Element a movie has contained is one. But imagine: what if an entire movie was just The Opera Scene from The Fifth Element. How powerful would that movie be?”
