When your team has potluck/bring a plate to share type event, who made the thing your colleagues bring? I recently realised I haven’t truely enjoyed working in teams where the colleague’s partners made those sharing dishes. Correlation or causation?

Well, thanks Arc for prompting me to finally switch. Just finished moving to Crest. Lets see how long I can conifer until I have to make another switch…

Today I learnt from Tour de France that boobs are more aerodynamic. Fab. I’m looking forward to hearing what they’d enforce; ban padded bras, or force chest compression.

The problem with being an organiser of well established local meetups and conferences… is I wish there were more local equivalents to share my talk ideas 😅 I don’t enjoy public speaking. But I need to do it often enough to not be so freaked out when an critical moment/presentation comes my way.

I do the AV for groups I’m involved in. Sessions were live streamed & recorded. Our speakers used the recording for self improvement, or for more visibility. I’m big on learning from my mistakes (yes… it’s painful to listen to myself). So I hope I can help other meetups stream effectively too!

🎉 Looking for new work. 15 years front-end dev + Design Systems specialist. I help folks build, maintain & transform design systems. I'm also available for focused projects, front-end builds, codebase modernisation. Short to long term. Let's chat - stu@alwaystwisted.com reposts appreciated <3

Had a gleeful discussion about performance issues of a micro-frontend project. My friends and I thoroughly opposed that architecture for this project a few years back. I feel vindicated.

Oooh, my medical centre is moving to another patient portal. No that's a juicy migration. I wonder if this had anything to do with the recently well publicised data breach. Nerdery end. Back to normal family dinner convo

This weekend I learnt: When taking an official event's group photo, don't handover the mirrorless camera to a complete beginner. Just use the latest iPhone you can find.

To you brave backbones of IT, carrying the support torch while the rest of us emerge from our Christmas-pud-induced comas, we see you. You’re the real IT heroes and we know you’ve got the war stories to prove it. Submit yours here: sessionize.com/code-camp-we...

Just had classic moment of a typo destroying your code... I found it by manually comparing code one line at a time over 2 days. I thought AI coding assistance was suppose to be able to help me quickly find crap like this. It certainly did not, and kept suggesting some very useless stuff

Today I learnt that adding double spaces as the end of a line in markdown render as a line break. At least, it does on Eleventy's nunjucks templating... Yes sure, we shouldn't use line break all that often. But address new line is a perfectly legitimate scenario. Surely.

I've clocked 50+ hours into this restaurant management game... And only just found out that I could buy equipment upgrades at least 25 hours ago! It's hidden in a tab of a floating UI. GRRRRRRRR

My new personal laptop has arrived! So happy to be able to customise it, and be free from corporate lock restrictions. I can now use my external hard drives & access RODE Pro wirelwas mic storage 😭 Now, how to arrange these stickers…

I told people at work that I'm leaving, and they can continue to follow my writing on clarified.dev. 15+ sign up is more than enough motivation for a burnout soul. I thought I'd be lucky to get 5 😭 Appreciating my colleagues so much right now.

As my last day at work approaches… I’m very tempted to create a set of lint rule, automate PR of it to all codebases in the company, hand my laptop over then leave. But may be not. Tech community is rather small, and I ain’t got many bridges left to burn

I've been told that my spicy internal blog posts are only spicy to those with context. Otherwise it reads like a reasonable post. How flattering. Now if only I can figure out how to do that consciously...

"You can't bake a cake without breaking a few eggs" I'm getting tired of this saying from proponents of "move-fast n break-things" mentality. You can actually bake a cake without eggs at all. Flax seeds is a perfectly normal vegan substitute.

Our retro regularly run overtime. This one ran short. "Interesting, we don't have much to talk about in today's retro" "It's the first sprint in a long time, where we don't have to pivot half way" "Oh. Right" "Don't worry, next sprint we'll be back to normal" 😅 🥲

Putting conference organiser's hat on... Printing photos of speaker and giving it to them right after was some *insane* logistical challenge for photographers and volunteers. 4.5 tracks. So up to 5 speakers to photograph then edit, print, and framed for... in 45mins. Heroic effort. Well done!!

I do like coming into the office, to find free instrument for whacking fragrant buttered steaks. Or someone after an awful meeting... That aside, this is enough rosemary to supply a steakhouse. Thanks, owner of a clearly gigantic rosemary bush, for this morning's giggle

Weather has been swinging between 12-37c. I’ve been in this hotel for 7 days. Today I just found out that I can manually work the air con to save my sanity. Better late than never… I suppose

I don't know if I'll have the energy after women's breakfast, and being on-edge waiting for my turn to speak by this time... But I'll try very hard to be there. Sounds like great fun!! #DDDMelbourne
