Hi new followers! We're an award-winning human rights charity fighting for migrant rights since 1983. We do this by providing free legal advice, giving community support, and campaigning for change. When politicians seek to divide us and treat migrants with cruelty, we refuse to accept it.

We welcome ambition from @andyburnham.bsky.social to get everyone off the streets. But everyone must mean *everyone*. To end rough sleeping, Govt must tackle the immigration policies that lock migrants out of the safety net and make it harder to stay off the streets www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Fwiw this includes me (a British citizen but born abroad), my Norwegian midwife partner, and two of my three children. Nice to know that The Times thinks we are undesirable but has watched “helplessly” as we lived in London.

UNISON migrant workers held an inspiring rally at Labour Conference, sending a very clear message - The Prime Minister must do the right thing. That means dropping plans to extend the waiting period for Indefinite Leave to Remain and investing properly in public services.

this is disheartening to see being repeated - we @justfairuk.bsky.social raised this precise inaccuracy with a @theguardian.com journalist back in June

Disappointing to see that basic facts about these proposals are not being accurately reported, almost a year after their publication The government's policy documents are clear that care workers face a tripling of their route to settlement to 15 years www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Strong public backing for wealth taxes to fund services. New YouGov polling ahead of the Budget shows public support for making the wealthiest, big corporations and banks pay their fair share to invest in public services. buff.ly/ti6xMYb

Food hygiene inspection? Immigration check. Fire safety inspection? Immigration check. Good to see @lewisham.gov.uk & @liamshrivastava.bsky.social resisting this Lewisham & a growing number of councils are refusing to cooperate with immigration raids where they legally can bsky.app/profile/tbij...

So they're at it again 🙄 Torturing valid HMRC data to create wildly misleading headlines, designed to invoke fear and anger about immigrants. Same old, same old... (and you'll see just how old shortly!) 🧵1/28

The sudden suspension of Refugee Family Reunion last year meant women who have already survived war and persecution were separated from their children, partners, and loved ones. Great to see our friends at @4refugeewomen.bsky.social standing up for families. #NeverLetThatGo bsky.app/profile/4ref...

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🏠 Families belong together. We will #NeverLetThatGo. Yet, the UK's asylum system is forcing families apart. One year ago, the Government suspended refugee family reunion – one of the only available safe routes – disproportionately harming women and children. www.refugeewomen.co.uk/family/ 1/🧵

In all seriousness, this is the most dangerous, Americanisation, detrimental cultural decline that Farage will oversee. He is suggesting ripping apart our cultural fabric in pursuit of an agenda which has no plan for improving conditions for the British people he claims to speak on behalf of.

Last week Nigel Farage dreamt of prosecuting migrant rights charities. Presumably arresting the loveliest people volunteering in our local churches, mosques, and synagogues. We have a message for Farage: "It will take more than a pair of handcuffs to stop us" www.civilsociety.co.uk/voices/minni...

You may have seen reports about the campaign for charities to be more 'transparent' about who funds them. Well it turns out the mysterious new right-wing think tank behind it won't say who funds or runs them, and used fake names for the authors of the report which launched their campaign

This is where the politics of hostility leads. When people seeking safety are relentlessly portrayed as threats and treated as criminals, it creates fertile ground for the far right to escalate intimidation and violence at our borders www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

The 1951 UN Refugee Convention is one of the legacies of the defeat of Nazism, inspired by the knowledge of the countless Jewish and other people who had been unable to escape, so I guess it’s unsurprising that Reform want to reverse it
