Folks, im hard at work on my next video essay and it’s about comedy films and recurring jokes/structures therein. Been doing lots of general research to get a firm grip on the history of comedy and comedy films but im also looking for something maybe more theory based? Any recommendations?

Im pretty sure when I saw the London show at the Hackney Empire last tour, an empty balcony was counted toward the overall BR total. This calls into question, which is the correct procedure? One balcony report total is illegitimate, we just yet dont know which one.

Some friends with benefits scenario, an orgy, a virgin who keeps having bad luck on the day every year (a flu, stuck in an elevator, groin injury), a long term couple who just discover they’re sexually incompatible…

I seriously think the premise better lends itself to an ensemble piece like the Marshall Day films or Love Actually. Have the single people on a night out storyline, the committed but not yet married couple squeezing in a year’s worth of sex, someone with a recent break up…

I see the “Dublin, UK” mix up has gotten into the heads of everyone in CBB towers. “DUBLIN, IE” is fine lads, no need to break with the two letter convention.

Ended up giving up on the pilot halfway thru and just starting on the regular episodes. Seems a lot of work was put into the show after the pilot, lots of new characters and plot lines (a husband, a boyfriend, a long lost half brother…) Not sure if they all fit together yet…

That one live episode of The Teacher’s Lounge that just devolved into them reading emails from Paul Ryan with him signing off with bad puns on his name (Paul Lyin’, Paul Cryin’, etc.)

The next Pitt season finale should end with Dr. Robbie going home to a big fancy, empty apartment and going to sleep naked in a cardboard box like Jim Profit does in the pilot episode of the 1996 Fox series Profit.
