Barron is hosting a big conference on the theology of Ratzinger in a couple of weeks, which goes to show that Ratzinger (both through his own fault and not) in death as in life is as poorly served by his friends as his enemies.
This is taking a J.D. Vance stump speech and turning it into a “neutral” podcast.

Not beating the "very online" charges:
JD Vance: "The price of gas goes up every time a foreign leader in the Middle East throws a tantrum" (This is different from what Vance said yesterday, which was "Gas prices are too high ... they skyrocket every time some tinpot dictator decides to throw a tantrum")
Quite related to the way Trump admin figures talk about foreign countries. They were offended that overcrowded tenements etc. were present *in the United States* when the people in them belonged elsewhere. Era culminated in 1924 immigration law and 1928 election (vs. a Tammany politician).
I meant it how I wrote it. Go back to the original Progressives and while they often decried the bad *conditions* of immigrants living in poverty they viewed eugenics and immigration restriction as paths out of it, and resented Tammany-style politicians who materially helped those people.
Yeah, the thing about good government rhetoric and action is that in the best of times they're anti-immigrant and anti-poor, and to quote one of Billy Joel's best songs, these are not the best of times.
Your excellency, the president is urging Minnesotans to "fight back" against Somali immigrants and spreading salacious lies about Ilhan Omar, whose passport he directed the DOJ to confiscate. He's doing that out of concern for the poor and love of good government, right? I'll hang up and listen
This is the kind of of phenomenon where as an East Coast big-city dweller I feel like an anthropologist looking at my own country. Also that said cities are ironically where despite their outlier status in certain respects life most resembles what it was like when I was growing up.
I really kind of hate Trunk or Treat
The “intentionally” in Golka’s statement does not fly. www.denvercatholic.org/exclusive-de...
One of the problems with almost the whole Catholic right being at best anti-anti-Trump is these bishops would view anyone who thinks of this as obscene as having TDS.
We're getting real mask-off stuff in the decrepit stages of this. Even a lot of relatively pastoral guys are very conservative when it comes down to it and occasionally get careless about the appropriateness of doing so, and/or get lured in by getting to visit a cool venue.
Again, Golka's presence as a major Leo appointee is quite significant here. Denver was the epicenter of the JPII "New Evangelization" in the U.S. and its initiatives are not going down (e.g. moderating) without a fight. www.ncronline.org/news/white-h...
Imagine telling someone in 2004 that the right got Dawkins and Rowling in the culture wars.
Ironic that Richard Dawkins has spent most of the last thirty years denouncing Christians as backwards and barbaric and then comes out as a vicious transphobe; way way way to the right of most Church of England clergy
Yes and using their financial resources to self-segregate and avoid having to talk to libs at all.
The “parent estrangement” panic should be understood as part of the same complex as anger at social media “censorship,” and demands for affirmative action for conservatives in academia. Conservatives simply think you should be forced to listen to their dogshit ideas, no matter how cruel.
