The Ebola outbreak in the DRC has now crossed 10,000 cases and is getting close to 5,000 deaths. It is a staggeringly large outbreak and it continues to grow rapidly, with 96 new cases in the last 24 hours alone. #IDsky 🧪 insp.cd/sitrep-n164-...

Agree- when I have written and talked about this outbreak over the past few months- the main reaction I get is "There's an Ebola outbreak happening?" Compare this to 2014 when it made global headlines regularly.
If you had told me a year ago there would be an Ebola outbreak of this scale and the world would take this little notice, I probably would not have believed you.

A major Ebola outbreak is tearing through the DRC: 1000's infected, more than 2,300 dead, health workers reaching barely 30% of cases. & much of the world has barely noticed says @profdevisridhar.bsky.social Global threats are multiplying just as we're dismantling our capacity to respond to them.
