I just "love" the fact the FL GOP assumes that because I am registered a No Party Affiliation, it means they have half a chance in hell appealing to me with open fascism. I'm NPA because even the FL Dems are too conservative for my progressive tastes. I merely settle for them in the general.

As a progressive living on Florida's space coast, I am voting as close to my beliefs as my options allow, this is translating to no MAGA sycophants (even those covering their rears), no voting for Federalist Society judges, & no voting for amendments which they support.

Policy over party or faith. If the people that failed up for 30 years offer only culture war BS and no solutions I don't need the or those who do it under another name.

Getting ready to test Proton under CachyOS with my potato laptop using a modern (2026) Windows only port of a retro (2000) PlayStation game, Breath of Fire IV. Given Slime Rancher for EGS ran under Mint & ProtonDB ranks it as Gold support, I am fairly confident. #linuxgaming #retrogaming

So far so good though even adjusting it for my built in monitor's resolution, you can tell the game was never particularly optimized for HD as it displayed in 4:3 and was obviously stretched to fit. It did reveal a limitation to the monitor however as 32 bit color was unsupported.

The play is just as remember the playback of the original game though I was playing it on an actual PS2 rather than the actual PlayStation.

Apparently sometime in the recent past, according to the app store, 4 days ago, the old ebtEDGE app and site were replaced, you will have to set up a new account btween them to track your EBT card balances. #PSA #EBT #SNAP

Adding Pokemon Red & Blue to Yellow & Crystal on Retroach (Gambatte) as a test of a storage & save change utility I recently found on Shelly called PkVault that similar to but distinct from an offline variant of Pokemon Home. #linuxgaming #retrogaming #modding

Which one? Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Densetsu/Mana Series) Metroid II: Returns of Samus Pokemon: Yellow Version - Special Pikachu Edition Zoids: Densetsu #retrogaming

In case you are wondering a potato of laptop with a 9th gen Pentium Silver with integrated Intel HD graphic can plausibly handle at least Nintendo titles up to the Wii & 3DS, Sega titles up to the Dreamcast, and Sony titles up to the PSP & PS2, even using Retroarch. #retrogaming #linux

The biggest issues I had in testing are the N64 is the laggiest emulation for me, PS2 was only playable under PCEE2, Wii requires a sensor bar, & the 3DS emulators seem to make retroarch hiccup prior to playback.

Potato Laptop Gaming Progress Cartridge based Nintendo & Sega systems as well a the PCE tested and Save for the N64 there are no appreciable performance issues. The N64 runs a little laggy but not unplayably so. Next is a test of CD add-on systems like the PCECD & SCD. #retrogaming #linux

Calling it a night but with everything tested but the GameCube/Wii. Funnily enough the system running the worst so far is the N64, with even the PS2 & DC show less lag than it. I did have to adjust the Window size on them to make them fit however.

Progress report Gamecube works fine. Window size adjustment required. Wii ROMs show some minimal lag but many require a $10 USB sensor bar I don't yet have. Also had to adjust the Window size.

Said Potato is a 9th Gen Gemini Lake Pentium Silver with integrated Intel HD Graphics 605. Nice enough for most casual tasks but hardly a traditional gaming setup. Still, I like to play on it and I do appreciate the retro scene, so I would love to see how far I can reasonably & practically push it.

Thinking early disk based consoles next PS, PSP, & Saturn for starters then maybe PS2, Dreamcast, & GameCube/Wii depending on how those do. Not sure much more is practical for those. DS line seems like a questionable but enlightening experiment as well.

Well after setting up my potato laptop with CachyOS and testing it out with Slime Rancher & Stardew Valley, I'm ready to invest some energy on Retroarch. Starting off with cartridge era Nintendo, Sega, & TurboGraphX games. Thinking 4 for each console. Suggestions? #cachyos #gaming #gamingOnLinux

You are up to date.
