At least, that's the long-term vision. There's still tons of code to port over. I'm letting the content drive that process. I want to keep making new artworks and articles. If past code helps express it, then it's worth porting. Otherwise, it can wait.

To continue the theme of making my digital creations more tangible, I'm working on some code to export scenes as a PDF printout. Here I made a mini-zine instruction booklet!

Similar to what I did with embroidery floss, I started the design process by picking color palettes. This creative constraint helped inspire some of the artworks. For example, purple, teal and white screamed "90s paper cup" to me

Progress from this week! #embroidery #crossstitch

Progress update on the coral cross stitch pattern! I'm using half-stitches for the first pass, this way the shape appears rapidly. A second pass will turn them into cross stitches. #embroidery

The other day I started a new cross-stitch project. I drew this coral pixel art myself in Aesprite, now to put it to fabric!

As a creative constraint, I separated my embroidery floss into palettes of 3-4 colors (with varying lightness values). So now the creative prompt is: "choose a random bag and design an embroidery pattern for it". That's more manageable than "huge pile of floss, do something with it"

I'm trying to find a way to store my embroidery projects (including future ones I make) in a way that I'll actually view and enjoy them... Any ideas? My first thought is something along the lines of a 3-ring binder but smaller. Not sure how to mount these as "pages" though. #crossstitch #blackwork

That said, I store my art trading cards neatly in binders. Do I actually take it out and look at what I've made? ...rarely. I do plan to set aside more time to experience my own art. But still, it's something to reevaluate. To put it another way, "out of sight, out of mind" is working against me.

This serves as a concrete (rubber?) example of a set quotient an equivalence relation. The set: the 16 tiles The equivalence: tiles are equivalent if you can rotate one into the other by a number of 90ยฐ turns #mathsky

My favorite book on the subject is this one, Life Isn't Binary by Barker and Iantaffi. This book talks about more than just gender. There are so many aspects of life that get shoved into arbitrary pairs of boxes. Yet there's always more to be found outside the boxes and where they overlap.

In quite a few places the stitches go a little over the lines. This was done for practical reasons since I'm on a square grid on plastic canvas. However, here this is fitting. Being nonbinary is all about not fitting into boxes.

More progress on the yellow stitches! #blackwork #embroidery

Finished the white stitches, now I can start the last color! Yes, this is using the colors from the non-binary flag, just in time for #pridemonth! ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ #blackwork #embroidery
