I really thought 2026 was the year that @somersetccc.bsky.social were going to win the County Championship for the first time in the club’s century-and-a-half history. Congratulations to Warks but, flipping bloody heck, how many more times are we going to finish in second place!!?

Congratulations to @warwickshireccc on winning the 2026 County Championship 🤝 #YouAreSomerset

RIP Cheetah Chrome, guitarist with The Dead Boys. I remember flipping out when I heard the awesome ‘Sonic Reducer’ for the first time on Vertigo’s ‘New Wave’ compilation in 1977 and the band’s ‘Young, Loud And Snotty’ album still sounds young, loud and snotty almost 50 years on.

Ooofff. And with the one and only Darryl Pandy on vocals. I interviewed Darryl a year or so on from this. Such an incredible voice and such a lovely man.

Ok hear me out... If you buy my whole discography today on bandcamp I will send you a homemade apple crumble. This isnt a joke. But... for obvious reasons I may need to limit this to the first 3 and UK residents only. Cheers.

Really happy to have five of my own album reviews in here...a privilege to be contributing to what was already my favourite print number!

One of my all-time favourite live albums… I should imagine you’re right about that Johnny Moped intro @jonsavage.bsky.social… I can still quote it word for word…

Love this video. We were always doing this sort of thing at my grammar school – let’s hear it for Hamond’s in Swaffham – back in the 1970s.

The way the outfits here create flashes of blue and white is very mesmerizing.

Now playing ‘Focus at the Rainbow’. Released in 1973 this album still astounds me in how four guys can go on stage at what, at the time, was probably their most important concert and play such a blisteringly incredible set.

Anyway, here’s an amusing bit of music writing I recently read for the first time. Phil Sutcliffe in Sounds (via Rock’s Backpages), 1980, on XTC. Andy Partridge has complained about too many “K” words in reviews of his band (“jerky”, etc.)…
