On this shot from the Ocarina of Time remake they're basically using the same simple "motion blur" technique that the original Majora's Mask (and other N64 games) used (footage slowed down to 10% of original speed)

I should perhaps add that motion blur effects in modern games don't typically look like that, so it feels deliberate and it's interesting to see a visual effect that's heavily associated with Majora's Mask being used in its predecessor

Weirdly, the same shot on the European commercial doesn't have the motion blur effect (JP commercial on top, EU on the bottom) Nintendo of America has still not posted a version of this commercial. I'm curious if they'll use the Conan the Barbarian music like the original did.

rejecting the horrible design from the first trailer and forcing them to do better literally saved the entire franchise

Sonic boss Takashi Iizuka says the first 'Sonic the Hedgehog' movie saved the franchise Higher-ups wanted to cancel the entire franchise, he fought to keep it going, and the first film’s success 'definitely changed the course of this franchise' (via One More Game)

I think there are some valid concerns about certain aspects of the OoT remake's visuals but there's also been a hell of an overreaction ironically it reminds me of how people reacted to the wind waker reveal

I don't understand the appeal of this game where you throw berries into a hole, says person who's spent 5000 hours playing a game where you throw fish eggs into a basket

[Splatoon 2] A prototype build created on Mar 28 (~4 months before the game's release) was found. It was acquired from a devkit that was used internally at Nintendo and (presumably) sent for e-waste recycling. The devkit ended up being listed for sale on a Chinese marketplace.

If Nintendo were to remake Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, I think the most amazing thing they could do visually would be to make the games look as close as possible to their official art I especially like the really dark shading in the MM artwork and would love to see that reflected in-game

Oblivion came out 20 years and 2 days ago, which means that, as of right now, Skyrim is the only Elder Scrolls game released within the last 20 years
