So I guess as of the last app update, Twitter/X will just randomly pop up a giant human hand and arm reaching up and pointing to the "Promote" button. Like while you're in the middle of writing a tweet, jumpscare style. So glad I got off there when I did.

The latest Mamdani "scandal" is he and his friends like to do sneaky night basketball pick-up games at a NYPD gym. Can at least one of these not make Mamdani look like the coolest guy you know?

so let me paint a picture for you when Elon Musk got a bug up his ass about Ukraine he had no idea how to impose limits on their Starshield access because technically Starshield is a US DoD thing and it's not supposed to have limits, contractually

so he yelled at an intern who in all probability vibe-coded a kludge they did not fully understand and right now they may not know how to undo what they did also it might affect US use of Starshield too

So memorize this pattern: Trump doesn't dance like a complete schlub to YMCA because he thinks it looks good or cool. Trump does it because he's in a position of power where a significant number of people will tell him that something he knows is garbage is good and cool.

Golly I wonder if there's a historical precedent for how people react if you cause a gas crisis by fucking up royally in Iran and tell the American people they're going to have to make do with less.

Anybody else notice they took the Tesla Roadster, one of the most stylish pieces of 21st century design, and made it look like the Tesla Cybertruck, the nerdmobile they can't even give away?

So, Street Fighter is kind of a hot mess. Imagine if you will a director who gets up before the audience, delivers an impassioned infodump about one of their favorite IPs, sighs, walks offstage, and returns wearing a fake mustache to say "Get a load of that nerdlinger."

It's built with a sequel in mind. Like an almost mandatory sequel, because they spend several scenes setting it up rather than letting the ending breathe. I'm not really sure they earned it, storywise. They probably won't earn it box office-wise, either.

Which is to say the people who made this movie clearly love Street Fighter, know a lot about it, had a bunch of cool things they wanted to show you about this thing that was so formative for them, then got very deeply embarrassed of all of the above and tried to play it off.

There are some real high points. All the flashbacks are very nice animated sequences that'll have you wanting more. This is also very accurate to the source material. Again, they wanted you to know the real deal, stuck close to the characters and their backstories.

So Musk blamed the Trump administration for throttling Starlink/Starshield in Ukraine, the Trump administration blamed Musk, and it turned out they were both complicit because Musk proposed it and Trump went along with it.

Cars that can drive upside down (and are actually cars). The Chaparral 2J (1970) Note the skirts around it. It generated a partial vacuum, which held it to the driving surface. The vacuum was relatively fragile, and required a very level and even surface.

The Porsche 956 (1982) Likewise, uses airflow and downforce to do this. Noticing a theme, here? This has been a solved problem since the 1970s. Tesla is never a first actor.

So people have been dazzled by a car-shaped object they are told is a car. It had no driver, and within its shell it had a precise rig to do a pre-scripted stunt routine. It contained no parts in common with what will be the production model, which will be able to do none of these things.

The press is treating this like "Elon Musk keeps his promises" and that is just what he wants it to be. That's what his stock price needs it to be.

Really, all I can give him points on is that, unlike when he took a baseball bat to the Cybertruck prototype, this stunt worked. And it should, because I'm sure he threw a ton of money at it.

In fairness, it was not an AI-generated video but a real-world event. That's impressive, but not in the "Only Tesla could do this" sense. Any well funded Hollywood production that knew what it was doing could pull this off, especially since they controlled lighting and where the audience stood.

Of all the tech boy attempts to turn "slop" around, including calling non-AI things slop, I think I've found the saddest. It's the guys who say they like slop, actually. They only want to consume slop from now on. Slop is good.

Sure do look forward to a time when we can have a president we don't have to debate on whether he's lying or whether his subordinates are feeding him fake stories to keep him happy.

Following discourse over the ability to swap the stars of The Lighthouse and Jennifer's Body, I have done something regrettable and I've decided to make it everyone's problem.

Y'all know he posted it because he's super horny for lions, right? Like if he was cool enough to have a fursona, it'd be a lion. Guy considers himself an apex predator because he likes to think it's against the natural order to mess with him.

Shane Gillis is testament to the unlimited chances a mediocre white guy gets. Every time he's on SNL he is the unfunniest one there, and that's a high bar. And yes, he's going to be asked back. Firing him didn't stop that, and an f-bomb on national television won't either.

Now I will preface this with the fact that I do not believe Barack Obama deserved a Nobel Peace Prize. HOWEVER. I get smooth, effortless, sustainable satisfaction from the fact that Obama has one and Trump does not, and that it's gonna bug Trump until the day he dies.

So Schmitt's "gotcha" moment turns out to have an even worse root than just mistaking the Hawkeyes for the Hawks. He and his aides just relied on the date, and only looked for mens' games. They didn't consider women's games, even though it was at the height of all the buzz around Caitlin Clark.

Living with AI in the environment is having whole art styles ruined for you because they were the first to be ingested when the engine started training. It's like an alien parasite crawled in the ear of a dear friend and started puppeting their body.
