Sarah 🫀🦇

Pinned post hello: Let’s be friends! My name is Sarah and I’m passionate about literature, nature, history, my cats, vegan cooking, Nintendo games and wine. Fill my inbox with Garfield memes. I’m an American living in Germany with my husband and might just be a vampire. 🦇 ♥️

I love when my friend visits and cuddles our cats but I wish I could talk to the cats about her. Do you think they’re wondering when The Petting Lady is coming? Can they join our group chat?

We’ve hit 70k words on the novel draft, I am rewarding myself with an imaginary scratch and sniff sticker.

Pretty fascinated by the lining of The Count’s cape. You’d think he’d go straight goth with it but there’s a bit of secret disco peeping out. What a legend.

I am half-considering doing some kind of reverse trick-or-treating and giving people candy because I will never get kids ringing my door in a third floor apartment (in Germany) but I also don’t think walking around giving candy to children is gonna be viewed so favorably—!

I dunno, I think the devil of unchastity looks quite friendly. Pet-like.

It’s always a bit strange to email someone with your name. Hi My Name, it’s Me, Your Name. Best wishes, Our Name.

The pumpkin inspector has logged on.

The fruits of the weekend: autumn should be forever.

Read. Infuriating, to put it mildly! The post-sentencing afterword my copy had is a MUST, had me running into the other room to update my husband frequently. As someone very affected by illness, both my own and others’, my blood was boiling. Great journalistic style, thrilling.

Look, I hate wearing a bra and only rarely do, but sometimes I see a vintage bullet bra and suddenly, I need one. I need the torpedos.

At that time of year where the sky is just doing whatever it wants every five minutes.

Go back in time and yell at me for not buying the treehouse of horror makeup collab because I could be using this right now, I could be, but alas, I am not!

Devastated that I may never attend a costume party with as varied, wonderful outfits as the Halloween episode of Frasier.

Learning local birds and plants has been such a joy but nothing will top when my husband and I were watching a bird creeping up a tree, wondered what he was called, looked him up and: yeah. That’s a treecreeper.

The girls rarely play with toys EXCEPT for this one, this is THE toy and it’s only sold online by some German-Canadian cat company.

This is how feeding more than one cat feels sometimes.

Man, I found out my gyno is leaving her practice and I’m bummed out. She was the first medical professional to realize I was getting sick and helped me with the empathy, tact, and seriousness I needed, even when it’s not her specialty. I really respect her. Big stirrups to fill.

I use too many exclamation points and I do not care. I am that excited to tell you your selfie looks great and your pets are cute and that I hope you have a good day!! What else is there in life!

Ok maybe I spoke too soon about my favorite childhood costume because hippie and uh, ten year old leather gal biker….take the cake.

I love my bestie because she will randomly text me about important topics like this niche NPC that appears in kingdom hearts only under very specific conditions.

Read. A tricksy novel in the spirit of Hitchcock’s Rope. This would elicit excellent book club discussions, the limited omniscience POV raises a few questions of reliability and perspective that I found interesting. A deft hand, thrilling, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

My favorite Halloween costume I ever wore is still the cat in the hat costume that my mom made for me when I was eight.

There are restaurants that I haven’t lived on the same continent as in nine years whose numbers are still in my phone, like a dead relative I can’t bring myself to delete.

My sister cats embody the ray of sunshine princess type and the brooding goth girl. Give them a sitcom.

Updates from my husband at Aldi; am I just morbid or:

I am fairly certain the orb weaver spider who has been living outside my window is “pregnant” and I’m having a real Charlotte’s Web moment wondering if today or tomorrow or the next day may be the last time I see her…? I am not ashamed to admit I may well cry, I will miss her.

My WIP novel involves a lot of chickens so sometimes I visit the neighborhood gals and apologize to what I’m doing to their fictional brethren.

Decadence, thy name is Nettle!

Someone just bought a glass side table from our neighbor, carried it outside to their car, and immediately dropped it and broke it. RIP in pieces omg.

More Rube Goldberg machines in movies, please. Every movie should have one in a long, extended sequence, especially if it’s part of a morning breakfast routine.

I am only ever taking a flight longer than 8.5 hours if I get to play the Nintendo ds with Patrick Stewart and no I’m not compromising on this.

Read. Carson ripped me apart and rendered me raw meat. Unbelievable, I was punching the air at some lines, pure pure ACHINGLY pure brilliance. A novel of poetry, I ordered more from her before I was even ten pages in. Life-altering, no exaggeration, my own writing is COWED, wow.

Please tell the crows I love them and will join them, all they have to do is ask.

I get a little tipsy and start wondering if I’m hot for Greg Davies (!!!!) or am I actually just hot for the taskmaster chair—

I like turn based RPGs because I can play with one hand and pet the cat with the other.

Why does this kind of look like a political comic. Seethe, for I have already depicted you as Satan in His Ugliness without cool wings.

For sale: Garfield slippers. Used. Happiest short story of all time.

I bought a leopard print hat today, I think I’m ready to enter my Frannie Fran era. You don’t choose when you become Fran Drescher. She chooses you.
