Where the rubber hits the road in these dumbass discussions is "Where would you rather live?" You could not pay me to move to Russia. China is not as bad, but I still wouldn't feel safe speaking my mind there. So no thanks.

As for China, I'm not hater. I've been there. Studied there for a semester in the 90s. Used to read/write/speak quite a bit of Mandarin. I like China and I'm sad that while I would probably be safe visiting there I wouldn't feel completely comfortable unless I scrubbed my entire online existence.

America has always fucked up in one way or another. But this is a moment of real authoritarianism that is comparable to say, Putin's Russia. Compare what is going on right now with what is going on in Russia and we still haven't quite gotten there. Up to and including not yet invading Canada.

Progressive taxation is fair. The nation's infrastructure, courts, educated workers, public subsidies, political influence, and economic system make their wealth possible. And they get more out of all of it than we do. Try being poor in court vs being rich. They shouldn't bitch about paying for it.
