how does one react to being told they're someone's best & only friend? don't get me wrong, the friendship itself is reciprocal, but maybe not at best friend status in this direction. close, yes, but relatively new only since last semester.

obviously i'm gonna continue being his friend & being there for him. i'm going to continue being there for his ex whom i met in the same class, even though the end of their short, intense relationship was messy & she started calling him a liar & manipulator. which i don't believe at all.

idk how long the relief from tms treatments last, or what, but at this point anything is a vast improvement on all three of those problems, so brain magnets? hell yes. i really, really hope the eval goes well & that the tms doctor agrees with my epileptologist that it's worth the risk.

getting the expensive wahl cordless peanut trimmer has been a really good move in my one million hair trimming tools in search of the one that will let me maintain my bald shave & chosen beard style at any given time. doesn't do much for the bald shave, i have to get less lazy to keep that up.

& that's bad. like, i'm neutral on the subject of body hair in general for myself, but once it starts to pull or snag on fabric from clothing, that's game over, i'm going to trim it down as much as i can. & when i do that, that's everything except upper chest, arm hair, & back hair i can't reach.

i don't shave body hair with a razor because doctors have told me not to in the past, tmi especially in sensitive areas; i'm prone to boils & already have that problem enough from trich hair pulling in uncomfortable places (& my obgyn insists there's nothing to be done about it except stop, so).

but it does a very good job at a shave/trim on my face that looks like i shaved about ten hours ago, which is good enough with the goatee. i'll let the sides grow out a few days or a week, because maintenance isn't my strong suit. & then the peanut trimmer handles it zero issue, easy peasy.

i had a couple of cheaper mini trimmers that were battery operated but they were rough next to skin & not close enough. this is fine next to skin, no guard, doesn't get too hot. may go through & use it to deal with some unwanted body hair at some point. it's gotten long enough things pull.

oh, on another note, saturday caregiver and i cleaned the kitchen so i can maybe be able to cook again! i haven't been able to cook in a long time it feels like because the only piece of counter space was being taken up for storage, & i couldn't get to the stove for the piles of bags & miscellany.

i actually cooked yesterday! i made tofu & rice, very simple, but good, & it felt nice to cook something on the stove & have hot food. tofu isn't good made in the microwave. i might make more tofu tonight if we have any in the fridge.

the new ones also say 'ai pc', but i wonder how much of that is marketing copy vs how much has to do with any actual software running on top of windows that gpd has put together. also, what i want is like, $2k give or take $200 depending on the seller. i'm not about to have that any time soon.

in the middle of all of this, my laptop is dying, & i know if i get whatever bottom of the barrel budget one instead of replacing with at least equivalent i will hate myself for the duration of having that computer. the few games i play are lifelines to my sanity. my current laptop has 64gb ram.

so, with that & all the other expenses in the world, if you could spare something, i'd be appreciative. it'd help keep two queers & our cat surviving the hellscape of los angeles & this world while living in a hostile environment. cashapp: $ceahhettan venmo: @californiummm paypal: ask

i don't know how many months it's going to take to recover from this one (i made several large purchases beyond the threshold where i usually stop spending money), & thankfully i have some money squirreled away for our vacation next month or i'd really be panicking. but it's tight.

spouse has to take another nap before doing my meds for tonight; to say i'm a little anxious about potentially not having my meds tomorrow is an understatement, but i can't do them myself & write my paper both at the same time.

my life for my ocd to allow me to repost something without terminal punctuation. alternately, people, end your sentences with fucking punctuation for fuck's sake; i don't care if it's cool or hip or something, conveys some tiny grain of subtext, or you're just lazy. sentences end in punctuation!

i have all the documents gathered for the medi-cal bullshit with the enhanced invasiveness so that they can "catch" everyone on medicaid programs who "is ineligible", so i guess i'm doing that monday. i was supposed to go down to lacc campus & deal with my student loan application.

i should be able to get on the 250% working disabled program, which is full scope medi-cal & allows us to have a significantly greater income as long as i'm working, & allows "work" to being as simple as collecting recycling. so, to qualify i'm collecting recycling, with help from my caregiver.

combatting tiny ants in the house again. just in the kitchen so far, but it's like i get them & i spray the ant spray & then next thing i know they're popping up somewhere else in the room. caregiver & i cleaned everywhere; i sprayed ant spray almost everywhere; i hope to get some brief reprieve.

maps & gps are great. i love not getting lost, & being able to see traffic on the freeway so that you can avoid it. but there are cautionary elements & i wish everyone would stop worshipping the map apps for a little bit & develop some independence.

& yes, i get that the original post was about positives, & i consider cell phones & especially map apps a net positive. i just think that they come with some consequences that most people don't think about; the lack of critical thinking about navigation planning is a huge loss.

because anywhere that you learn critical thinking from, it's a cross-applicable skill. you use it across circumstances & domains. it's the same thing that people keep saying about ai, that use of it lessens critical thinking skills. gxd forbid it originate from a thing they actually like & use.

& of course i still need to do colouring today, & self-care log & group time log. on top of finishing the paper that i got the second extension on. paper comes first, see y'all on the flip side i am closing bsky & closing my phone.

(i have independently verified with former coworkers that this isn't true.) all of the creativity, critical thinking skills, & independence that job fostered in me are now gone in the new generation of drivers, subservient to a soulless machine that doesn't actually teach them anything.

i also drove semi trucks eventually, & one of the best & simultaneously worst parts of driving a truck is how high up the seat is. you're king of the road! you can see down into cars & see what they're doing… you can look down into someone's car & boy howdy what they are doing.

had to radio in a few times when i got lost to a degree i couldn't figure it out myself, which was embarrassing, but when early map apps were still sending people the wrong way down one way streets, i never sat in traffic, got from a to b with time to spare, & generally it was a low-stress job.

i am now a customer of the same paratransit system i used to drive for. the new drivers are so beholden to the map that when i try to suggest a route that will avoid the traffic we are currently encountering, they'll say that they've been told they 'need' to take the way the map shows.

i used to work for a paratransit provider out here where i live. we worked with a thomas guide, & during training we had to do drills to find addresses & put together three routes to get there within a certain number of minutes. i learned the county like the back of my hand at that job.

but my phone won't let me complete the questionnaire they make everyone complete before appointments, even now that i finally got it to load. leaving it open so i can show my therapist why it's not fine. & i don't have my password to do it on their tablets the office provides.

ha. apparently the key to getting it to work was to publicly complain about it. was able to finish it, which just makes that much more time available for what i'm actually here for. especially because this is the only provider who's really good at not going over time.

i have three pages of references for eight pages of paper. why do i do this to myself when i could have written a paper with maybe one or two references & still gotten full marks because in fact it's an introductory class? which is a rhetorical question.

i do it because i feel like turning in work that didn't challenge me in one form or another is academically dishonest & cheating myself of the opportunity to receive feedback which can then improve my writing & academic skills, should one of my professors ever give me real feedback.

the actual assignment i'm doing this paper for calls for 1.5 to 2 pages, double spaced. sometimes i have a paragraph take up a whole double-spaced page; i don't think i could write that succinctly if i tried, so like, yes, that would be challenging, but mostly just frustrating & empty.

professor hasn't responded to my canvas message about the "go to a new to you aa meeting" assignment, & what that is entirely impossible for me to do right now due to accessibility reasons.

i don't have my hearing aids available & even when i do my auditory comprehension is only about 50%. there's about six more reasons, all disability related, including that i don't have independent transportation, & that my time is all already either appointments, homework, or rest & recovery time.

#Goodnight everyone. if no one's told you they're proud of you, that they love you, & that you're doing a great job today—i am, & i do. keep resisting, in whatever ways you can. hold each other up don't tear others down—the world does that already. be gentle with yourselves & those around you.
