edjefferson.comCould Hannah Fry have predicted what would happen in The Traitors using data?If anyone can statistically predict the outcome of The Traitors, surely it's a Professor of Mathematics!

Right then. Who can recommend me some beginner piano/keyboard lessons, ideally near St. Albans or in central London?

Could Hannah Fry's plan to unmask Traitors using data have worked?

In 2008, Six to Start made We Tell Stories for Penguin Books: six experimental online stories by six authors in six weeks. It won Best of Show at SXSW Interactive and ended up in MoMA. With the 20th anniversary approaching, I wrote about how we built it...

Well, Digger was... um. Something.

Finale of Jet Lag: Japanorama, in the cinema - that was the best ending to a series, by far. Amazing!

Oh no I think I want a nopia.io (and would probably sell my Telepathic Instruments Orchid to fund it)

This isn't anything particularly insightful, but one of the things that gets me about <The Technology Everyone's going Mad over> is (at least in general, every day discussions) how unfalsifiable a claim that it does something, is.

4 Sept

Just because the output seems to resemble what you wanted, doesn't mean it's doing that thing you claim it's doing. And without going into detail about the underlying tech, it's impossible to prove that it *isn't*.

4 Sept

.. all of which means, when comparing vs traditional tech ways of doing something, or advocating to use a proven technology instead, it's difficult to argue against <the thing which unknowably just seems to work>. You can't prove it isn't doing what is claimed.

Well, after feeling good about managing to set up various instruments in Ableton Live, I'm now left baffled and frustrated *yet again* by the Push 2 just not... working in the way it's apparently mean to. And doing this solo means I'm stuck. Trying to learn music is truly frustrating.

Spent an hour trying to fix the issue. No joy. FFS.

Finally managed to fix it. Some kind of hidden saved preferences file, lovely 🙃🫠

Good news, everyone! I've found a really nice Neapolitan pizza place near me that does takeaway and delivery at a reasonable price and distance! The year is saved!

I really need an animated GIF of the "Machines will do the heavy work, men will supervise the machines" line from several @psbhq.bsky.social songs. Mostly because of the 'plus ça change'-ness of it.

Taking myself to the cinema tonight, because why not. End of Oak Street it is, then!

The End of Oak Street with one of the most unique shot types (split diopter, apparently) I've seen in cinema in a long time.

This is quite a neat timeline of events to show a story developing. Make the player, date and clubs clickable, and I'd be in love.
