"I'm just venting" is code for "I'm about to export my discomfort and you're going to import it whether you consent or not." Venting without permission is just dumping. #Venting #EmotionalDumping #Consent #Boundaries #NotATrashCan #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast #emotionalburnout #boundaries

Your calm makes them more uncomfortable. So they sabotage it. If they have to be dysregulated, everyone does. It's like emotional communism but worse. #Sabotage #Dysregulation #MiseryLovesCompany #Peace #EmotionalCommunism #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast #validation #emotionalburnout #boundaries

The people who can't handle being wrong for thirty seconds are the same people who will argue for three hours about why they're right. Time management isn't their strong suit. #CannotBeWrong #Defensiveness #ArgumentativePeople #TimeManagement #Exhausting #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast #burnout

Some people can't sit with boredom for five minutes without making it everyone else's problem. My dog has more emotional regulation and he eats his own vomit. #Boredom #EmotionalRegulation #CannotSit #Chaos #LowBar #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast #validation #emotionalburnout #emotionalexhaustion

Escalation isn't loss of control. It's a business strategy. They escalate until the cost of not managing their feelings becomes higher than the cost of your boundaries. Economics, baby. #extinctionburst #Manipulation #Strategy #Boundaries #EmotionalEconomics #emotionaljanitor #rageagainsttheaudacity

You're not "too sensitive." You're just the only person in the room doing the actual work of regulating emotions. Everyone else outsourced theirs to you. #TooSensitive #EmotionalRegulation #Misdiagnosed #ActuallyCapable #EmotionalIntelligence #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast #emotionaljanitor

The participation trophy generation grew up. Now they're 35 and melting down in the break room because someone said "please revise this." We taught them discomfort was danger. Turns out, reality didn't get the memo. #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast #EmotionallyImmature #Workplace #RealityCheck

Some people treat discomfort like it's a hot potato. Except the potato is on fire and they're throwing it at your face while screaming "CATCH." #DiscomfortIntolerance #EmotionalExport #HotPotato #Projection #NotMyEmergency #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast #mentalhealth #validation #healing

The phrase "you've changed" translates to "you stopped doing my emotional labor for free and I'm mad about it." You didn't change. You just raised your rates. #EmotionalLabor #BoundariesWork #YouveChanged #Growth #SelfPreservation #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast #mentalhealth #protectyourpeace

Your body has a better bullshit detector than your brain. If your shoulders are up by your ears within five minutes of someone entering the room, that's not anxiety. That's your nervous system recognizing an invoice you're about to get stuck with. #BodyKeepsScore #IntuitionIsReal #TrustYourGut

If someone spirals every time you give them feedback, that's not sensitivity. That's a business model. They've monetized your discomfort with their reaction. And business is booming. #Feedback #EmotionalManipulation #Weaponized #ToxicWorkplace #ConflictAvoidance #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast

Fun fact: The people who can't handle "I need space this weekend" are the same people who will ghost you for three weeks without warning. Boundaries are only abandonment when YOU set them. #rageagainsttheaudacity #podcast #Boundaries #DoubleStandards #EmotionalImmaturity #ToxicRelationships

You know you're dealing with an emotional exporter when their "emergency" has a marketing campaign. They're not just upset. They're upset with a full social media rollout, group text spiral, and emergency meeting request. That's not a crisis. That's a product launch. #rageatanisttheaudacity

The narcissism isn't in how they see themselves. It's in how they see reality. As something that should accommodate their comfort. Always. At any cost. And the cost is you. Your needs. Your truth. Your right to exist without constantly managing their emotional temperature. #rageagainsttheaudacity

I can't handle conflict isn't vulnerability. It's a demand that you never bring up problems. I'm sensitive, isn't self-awareness It's a warning that your honesty will be treated as cruelty. Criticism hurts my feelings isn't emotional honesty It's a declaration that accountability is off the table

"You can do better" isn't encouragement when nothing you do is ever good enough. When love depends on achievement, you're not being raised. You're auditioning. Constantly. For a role you'll never fully book. Were you raised or were you performing? What's the difference in your life?

"You should be grateful I didn't hit you like MY parents did." "After everything I've done for you..." "At least I kept a roof over your head." Gratitude becomes a weapon when it's used to silence legitimate grievances. Basic parenting isn't something you owe eternal debt for.

They want friendship-level intimacy while maintaining parent-level authority. They want you to confide in them like a friend but obey them like a child. They want closeness without accountability. Connection without equality. That's not a relationship. That's control dressed up as love.

How is it that some people export their discomfort on to others while others import it? Deep dive on "Their Discomfort is Not Your Emergency" #rageagainstheaudacity #protectyourpeace #emotionaimmaturity #emotinalintelligence

substack.comThere's an Invisible Market for Feelings and You're Getting RobbedHow some people export discomfort while others import it, and why both think this is normal - Rage Against the Audacity Their Discomfort is Not Your Emergency episode Deep Dive 1 of 4

Some people genuinely believe reality owes them a frictionless life. Any discomfort they experience isn't just uncomfortable. It's evidence that someone has wronged them. That you've failed them. Your boundary didn't create internal tension. It attacked them. This is the narcissism of comfort.

Emotionally intelligent people spend years in therapy, reading self-help books, examining their behavior, taking accountability. Meanwhile, the person causing harm does... nothing. And somehow WE'RE supposed to accommodate THEIR limitations forever. The self-aware carry all the relationship weight.

Your job wasn't just to exist. It was to make your parents look good. Get good grades so they could brag. Behave perfectly so they seemed like great parents. Provide grandkids so they could play loving grandparents on social media. You weren't raised. You were managed for appearances.

When you bring up legitimate harm, do they focus on HOW you said it instead of WHAT you said? "I don't like your tone." "You're being disrespectful." "If you'd just said it nicer..." That's the tone police. They're deflecting from accountability by making your delivery the problem. #TonePolicing

Some people have babies thinking "this child will love me unconditionally" or "a baby will fix my marriage." That's not parenting. That's assigning a job to someone who didn't apply for it. What job were you assigned before birth? Peacemaker? Emotional support? Parent's self-esteem?

Self-reflective people question everything about themselves. "Did I cause this? Could I have done better? What's my part?"Meanwhile, certain people never question anything. They just ARE right. Always. Guess who ends up doing all the emotional labor? The curious one. Every damn time.

Things I Can't Say Out Loud "I don't want to visit." "Your feelings aren't my responsibility." "I'm allowed to prioritize myself." "No is a complete sentence." These aren't mean thoughts. They're boundaries. But saying them out loud gets you labeled difficult. What can't you say out loud?

During #covid lockdown, I wasn't managing anyone's emotional volatility. I wasn't translating every conversation to avoid triggering someone. I was just... home. And it felt like peace. That's when I realized: I wasn't antisocial. I was burned out from doing everyone else's emotional work.

Family systems PANIC when the emotional stabilizer stops. You were the shock absorber. The translator. The peacemaker. When you stop managing everyone's chaos, the whole system destabilizes. And somehow, YOU'RE the problem for stopping. Not them for never starting. What happened when you stopped?
