Don't follow me cause I typed those 4 words. lol Read the rest of my posts. I'm somewhat political. I'm more progressive. I complain plenty. I'm a foodie. And a bunch of other stuff.

It has been suggested by not 1, but 2 people to apply for a job that plans graduation for a department. I do not wish to plan graduation. I want far away from it. Yes, I can do it. I'm actually pretty good at event planning, it just makes me crazy. I become SUPER type A and I don't like it.

My coworker be pushing Mary Kay on the clock. Listen. I can't knock the hustle but the core job, the one you sitting in that desk for, needs to be handled tho. You behind on multiple things? Mary should wait. I offered to help on something that's due Friday. Said no. Ok. Don't ask me on Thursday.

I just realized it's homecoming week. They fired Dave Doeren the Saturday before homecoming. LOL So much for that. I suppose focus will be on all other events, not so much football. ๐Ÿคญ

I get that she lived through Jim Crow & the civil rights movement. I understand that this might not feel like that level to her but EYE have never experienced anything like this. Childhood was pretty idyllic, this shit has been jarring to say the least. I (we) didn't think we'd be *waves arms* here.

I voted today at NC State's polling place which was moved to a much smaller, lesser known location. There was no line but a steady flow of people coming in with a lot of young folks. There was a DJ outside. The Republicans didn't talk to me. lol Civic duty done. #6313

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around having former students that allow me to be connected in ways I didn't envision working in higher ed. It's nice and mind blowing. This is why it's important to me I do my job well. It's about them having a good college experience.

The department chair sent an email yesterday, giving kudos to me and another staff member cause we got a shirt to a student that was defending their dissertation out of state. The professor was so happy and gave us a shout out on LinkedIn for making it happen. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ That's what it's about.

My neighbor saw a coyote in our neighborhood this morning. We've heard other folks say they're out there but this is the first time it comes from a source I know. We definitely got an abundance of wildlife around.

I SAW THE COYOTE! WOW! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ I wanted to witness it for myself but didn't think it would happen that soon. It was walking through our yards, just happily trotting along. Now I gotta research.

Good news from my doctor's appt.: My weight is down by a few pounds. Not so good news: my cholesterol and A1C are up. ๐Ÿ˜– I expected the opposite. I got some work to do but I can bring them down, I've done it before.

My PCP is great! She's so thorough. I got lots of info with new meds and approaches. And to think that I ended up at the practice by mistake, I thought I was making an appointment at a different one. She was new and taking new patients.

Why is it after my doctor's appointments I almost always want a smoothie afterwards? I wanted it but didn't get one this time. The smoothie place closest to that office is crappy and I wanted to get to work.

I know Raleigh is the City of Oaks but whose idea was it to plant trees that drop hard acorns over parking lots and sidewalks?? Hasn't landscape design and planning come a long way?

WHY don't restaurants give notice before they close? I mean, if they know it's coming, why not give customers a chance for one (or more) last meal/experience. Several of my fave restaurants just closed out of the blue and I never got that one last bite. Dammit!

Pours some out for Sushioki, Captain D's on 54, Kamado Grill, Neo-Asia, Chef Battistella's restaurants, and whatever other restaurant that was my fave and yanked from me unexpectedly. It hurts just typing that out.

Sometimes people in my department communicate with me like I'm dumb. I AM NOT DUMB. If anything you are not being clear and I am being specific in asking for clarification. AND usually the folks that do that are not the sharpest tools in the shed. The nerve!

The NC Museum of Art has a new exhibit, Ancient Nubia. It's full of history & artifacts. I was reminded of how our African ancestors did AMAZING work with their bare hands & basic tools. Gold. Travertine. Crystal. Impressive. Then at the very end, the last room, the esthetic of the items changed.

Folks have talked about Black folks loving/looking best wearing gold so I took a pic of this. Historical foundations of Black folks ๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐Ÿพ gold.

Didn't like them as much. European influence. You see how European/yt influence messes up the culture. Bruh. The parallels. Or perhaps continued colonization. smh I wonder if White patrons catch that. Probably not.

There's also this piece by Nancy Baker Cahill in the very back corner. One of her 3D pieces is lit up by a projector that changes color and adds movement to the piece with moody music playing. I was feeling it. Both exhibits worth checking out.
