There's literally a scene in the first film where Austin tells Dr Evil that while he understands that their actions in the 70s didn't age well the point was rebelling against the system and standing up to authoritarian powers. That the actions may have differed but the intent would be the same.

Valk@einherjarvalk.bsky.social

"woke austin powers" is a thing that keeps surprising people and I don't know why; the man was frozen in 1967 as the epitome of the Swinging Sixties movement and then woke up in the late '90s without having been corrupted by living through the Thatcher era of COURSE he's woke as fuck

*sigh* Yes. But what Dems can do is limit Trump’s power and his agenda, and not give a free pass like the Coms have been doing. And if they win big enough, Trump doesn’t have veto power.

Nicole Votes 4 Harm Reduction@nicokow.bsky.social

Do people realize that even if we win the midterms Trump is still President and would have to sign legislation for it to become a law? I mean. The list of expectations I see on here and other social media is insane.

Also I’m pretty sure if Trump doesn’t sign something it goes into law anyway after a period of time. Trump signing something into effect is kind of just a formality.

People spent so much time dooming to justify not doing anything the reality that they may be in a position of power to influence things is causing them an existential crisis since it'd mean actually doing *something.*

No one wants to hear this, but there's a direct line between Kingdom Come and nonsense like the Nu52.

The flaw in this theory is that Trump doesn’t pay anyone.

Don Comer@doncomer.bsky.social

Beginning to suspect that ALL of those at Trump's rallies are paid extras. Who in their right mind would want to attend otherwise?

Didn’t this guy fight The Mask?

Power Man #29. Dude steals an isotope, fall into the Hudson and emerges a fish man. Gets a crew to shake down truckers. They hire Luke. Fish man falls off building and dies. Not the first time a Luke fight ended this way.

The irony being it was supposed to be mocking Cable’s design from the X-Men mixed with golden ram (As he was supposed to be a “false idol.”)

There's so much about this console to love. A great library of games. Backwards compatible with PS1 games. Able to function as a DVD/Blu Ray player. Sturdy construction that it lasted decades. Such a great system.

Fighting Game Anniversaries@fganniversaries.bsky.social

26 years ago today, the PlayStation 2 was released in NA. It was distributed by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Sure, there was a lot of shovelware for the games. But it was also a period where developers could get creative and experimental with their games and delivery some really creative products. There was truly something for everyone.

The functionality to play DVD's was also a benefit. I don't think I would've seen as much anime as I did if I didn't have my PS2. It was such a nice, functional brick. Don't think we'll ever see it's like ever again.

Let’s make this very clear- Slott doesn’t care about this. He has taken credit for and refused to credit creators in the past, so this isn’t weighing on his mind. This is him going full Trump and pulling a “Fake News.”

If Slott can discredit a poster, then he can claim that everyone who agrees with them are also terrible people and their entire position should be ignored. And if he can’t find something he will invent something.

Trust me- he will start falsely accusing people of being sock puppets or ban evaders after this point. Because he’s becoming unhinged, and getting more and more desperate for a narrative to latch onto.

And yet they didn't. The Insurrection Act isn't a "Press button to overthrow democracy" button. If that was the case, they would've hit it by now. The White House doesn't control when elections happens. States do.

Angry@angrystaffer.bsky.social

“Nobody invokes the Insurrection Act over people walking down the street with signs. It doesn't happen.” 🙄 Trump and his allies are *openly* floating using the Insurrection Act to seize voting machines or ballots in order to upend an election they expect to lose.

The fact remains there is literally not enough troops to halt elections on the level that people are claiming. A Civil War could not stop elections from happening. The insurrection act sure as heck can't stop them. Stop giving Trump magic powers he does not have.

I feel bad about the NDP. It's clear that the party has the best intentions. But they've had a lot of major losses the past few years and they're in an incredibly weak position. I think it's important to have a diverse government, so Canada doesn't become a two party system like the US.

There's one quote tweet on the post they are referring to and it's mine, so I find this really hilarious.

Erev@erev.bsky.social

because they did not make you excited the variations of "it's your fault actually, not the MCUs" in the QRTs are intellectually incurious

Something to note is that Hit and Run was made by fans of the series and the Simpsons Game was written by the current writers of the show at the time. Something to think about.

Just letting everyone know, I will *also* not be appearing in the 'X-MEN' film reboot. Just getting it out there right now.

Cosmic Marvel@dailycosmicmarvel.bsky.social

Colossus will reportedly not appear in the ‘X-MEN’ reboot film. (via thecosmiccircus.com/daredevil-ha...)

The wild thing about Tom King is people keep trying to make all of his material about him justifying a right wing, pro military agenda when the major themes in most of his work have been about depression, self-harm and grappling with feelings of isolation.

People only know *one* thing about Tom King and just built and entire little universe around it, huh?

Fascism Heckler@fascismheckler.bsky.social

me: hopefully people can chill out with the takes about Lanterns now that it's over. youtube: hold my beer. But seriously, the fuck?

Or Trump assumes everyone knows as little as he does and he's a demented old man who is just rambling about nonsense at this point.

Charlie Fox.@realseafox.bsky.social

Trump just said that a lot of Republicans don’t know what the word incumbent means. These are the same people who evidently didn’t know the word dumb had the letter B in it. Trump knows exactly who his demographic is.

Here's an additional thought- If you go onto a particular message board all the time and you are constantly irritated by the people who post there, you have one very obvious option- just don't go to that message board. Heck, stop posting on social media altogether.

rdmacq.bsky.social@rdmacq.bsky.social

I’m going to say that is some pretty disturbing behaviour. Slott’s been like this for years, but I’ve no idea why he thinks he and he alone can police fan behaviour. This is a level of obsession that is not healthy. And he’s been like this for a while.

But that's never an option for Slott. No, instead of letting people just go about their business, Slott feels that it is his right to police the fandom and who gets to be a fan and who doesn't. And if he *really* doesn't like someone, he'll find some way to invalidate them entirely.

The option is for him to never just stop posting because it is clearly unhealthy for him. It's always that the fans either have to have nothing but positive, glowing things to say about his work, or just shut up entirely. So, despite Slott's previous claims, it is *entirely* about kissing his @$$

I love the constant attempt by Hasbro to kick Cobra Commander out of the "Main bad guy" seat, only for them to give up because the new guys never latch the same way.

Comrade Bullski@comradebullski.bsky.social

Larry Hama absolutely loathing the idea of Serpentor and the role Hasbro wanted him to fill in the mythos and yet turning it around and making Serpentor not only an interesting villain but a fascinating character study as well. The entire Cobra civil war arc is so damn good.
