Server: Would you like butter on your toast? Customer: Do you have any polarizing yeast-based spread?

NBC News@nbcnews.com

A prisoner loses his challenge to an Australian state’s ban on inmates eating Vegemite after he argued in court that withholding the polarizing yeast-based spread breached his human right to “enjoy his culture as an Australian.”

Besides being nakedly racist and bigoted, this is just hilariously wrong on all levels. I mean, Omar Yaghi won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry last year, and he won the Wolf Prize in 2018. And that's just one example.

Pour one out 🫗for the nepo baby Bolsonaro and his fake tears. He met with Trump SIX times this year, begging his American Daddy to intervene in his election, begging him for tarriffs, promising him the land and resources and people of Brazil. But it didn't work 😭😭.

Also worth mentioning that AI played no role in finding the vulnerability

🎯 Strange that this also landed just days before their, wildly overstated, IPO. False flag!! I want my Wednesday back! #FOSS #PHP #php2Shell #slopNews

A recap of the PHP vulnerability psyop: 1. Coders work on PHP patch for 2 years. 2. Coordinated release scheduled 3. Patch is "accidentally" leaked by AI company 4. Cybersec firm sends out B.S. alert that AI is 15 min away from exploit (impossible) 5. AI shills amplify message and call for AI fix.

Mask off moment for the NBA, whose owners have had deep ties to the gambling industry for quite a while. The Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks are examples of the most egregiously linked franchises to this predatory industry, that needs more losers than winners to be profitable.

The NBA has reached deals with Kalshi and Polymarket to make them the league's preferred prediction markets partners. The companies can now use NBA IP on their platforms, while the NBA gets right of approval on markets that they offer. That and more: www.nytimes.com/athletic/772...

This is coming up again. School vouchers cost George H.W. Bush re-election, and the tidy business (Project Edison) his Sec. of Education and cronies had lined up to profit from them, fell apart when he lost. Looks like they didn't get the message.

West Virginia has been part of a nationwide push, partially funded by billionaire-backed political groups, to use taxpayer dollars to fund private schools. Among the proponents are the Koch family network and Pennsylvania billionaire Jeffrey Yass.

As predicted, Flávio Bolsonaro did not concede. He’ll ask for the elections to be annulled due to extended polling times. The far-right’s anti-democratic processes have begun. A joke by a sore loser, especially given that his own party also asked for polls to be kept open for an extra two hours.

Early this year, I visited Ingram, a TX town of ~1,900, to check out a tip. The area was starting to recover from its worst flood in a century. But as Latino workers drove to jobsites to help rebuild, the tipster said, a cop in a black Dodge Charger kept stopping them ... 🧵

AI is an extraction industry no different than Big Oil. Except AI isn't waiting millions of years for organic matter to become fossil fuels. It is mining humanity in-vivo, siphoning away our collective knowledge, cultural edifices and social relationships.

Cherise Doyley was in her 12th hour of contractions at the hospital when a tablet was brought to her bedside. On the screen was a Zoom call with a judge and several lawyers and doctors. She was in court, a nurse told her. The reason? For failing to agree to a C-section. (Published March)

The only reason the AI panic narrative is working is because so many of you have never known a world without the Internet. The rest of us are just counting the days until this dumb timeline ends and we can go back to having real music again.

As part of Europe's first secular empire, Dutch masters broke from the religious themes that had long dominated art, to paint the everyday, while also encoding the patriarchal messaging of their new society. Always depicting women in domestic settings, in the shadows, facing away or behind a window.

Here are two wonderful paintings about letters created by Gabriel Metsu (1629-1667), the Dutch master. There were both painted c1665. They are considered his greatest works. I’ve used software to digitally ‘restore’ these works to how they might have looked in the studio. I love colour!

Like, is the biggest threat to cybersecurity the mere existence of LLMs, or is it the existence of companies like OpenAI with basically unlimited resources and an incentive to create large security incidents essentially as a marketing stunt?
