Like many of us, I grew up with the original Star Trek, but hadn't seen it in decades. More recently, I've been watching the series again with my elderly parents, like we used to in the 1970s, and it has brought us such joy. Thank you Walter Koenig for being part of that. R.I.P. Pavel Chekov

I see the Oxford St pedestrianisation debate is rumbling on. I have a solution! Yes, pedestrianise the road, but allow traffic to use the pavements instead. They are wide enough. You could have a multiple footbridge system to access the shops. Or maybe jetpacks? Job's a good'un!

I saw this advert at London Victoria on Friday. I know RG is simply flogging his endorsed vodka using his own brand of cynical humour, but I feel as if we're slipping ever more into this self fulfilling dystopia, like we're all literally living in a 1980s sci-fi movie satire now.

I found these Parma Violets at my folks today. Didn't realise they were still a thing, as I haven't eaten any since... Ooo, 1978? I remember thinking at the time they were rank. Certainly, no Refreshers. I'll now give them another chance. Nope, they still taste like lavender bath crystals.

Picture this. An alternate music chart universe where movie and pop stars hadn't changed their names. Béla Blaskó's Dead - Bauhaus 1919 Leonard Slye - Reg Dwight Maurice Micklewhite - Morris & The Minors Marion Morrison is Big Leggy - Healy & Garner Ian De Jenkins Waiting - Spud-U-Like

Found this top Radio Times cover today The Goodies went above the call of duty for their comedy. Always hitting each other, throwing themselves about, having heavy props dropped on them. By the expressions on their faces here, this probably spontaneous photo opportunity may have been a step too far?

I just read an article about a 'doomsday prepper' on BBC site. This bloke even has a YouTube channel advising people what to do in the event. Now. If I had an energy sufficient bunker with all this food, water & bog roll, I certainly wouldn't advertise it to the world, would you? Or use this pen.

Looking at this 2027 calendar makes me feel old and slightly confused. Probably how my father felt in 1982 when he saw my Marilyn Monroe calendar pinned on the bedroom wall.

Yesterday, I saw this new fizzy pop advertised on posters and wanted to see if the slogan was correct. It's true, I could taste Silk Cut, Malibu and a hint of a Wendy cheese burger. We are already looking at engagement rings.

A new charity shop that specialises in vinyl/ CDs has just opened near me. I overheard a customer telling the manager, "I've got loads of albums you can have, good '70s stuff." The manager was delighted. "So... about how much will you give me for them?" Some people are so staggeringly thick.

Watched Itch! (2024) last night. It was ok for a low budget horror, but not great. To its credit though, the film did make me scratch my skin all the way through. Haven't felt like that since watching the itching powder scenes in Carry On Teacher (1959), Carry On Girls (1973) & Carry On Crabs (1976)

I remember once in an episode of ITV's Heartbeat set circa 1968, a character remarked that Aidensfield's new doctor's bedside manner was a bit "touchy feely". I'm pretty sure that expression did not exist back then. Are there any West Yorkshire village dwelling octogenarians here to confirm this?

Bought this crap tonight. Reminds me of the time I designed a poster for a college production of Dr.Faustus in '83. It was a sub-Jamie Reid collage of images that included a '50s clipping, "IN SPECTACULAR 3D!" A fellow student asked if we needed 'them special 3D glasses' to watch the play. 🙄

My pitch for a new R4 show, 'Record Store Island' Each week, a guest is asked to imagine they have been marooned indefinitely in the HMV at Westfield. They must choose eight objects from a desert island, one austerity item, and in addition of a Booby, one seabird. Hosted by Marijne Van der Flugt.

See a lot of people are doing this so, in for a penny..? The sounds that made you? Bit pretentious, but I sort of understand what they mean. Formative stuff. You have to be as honest as you can, and you can't add "It would be a completely different list tomorrow" like a big baby.

Spent a wonderfully fun and spooky evening at The London Palladium last night in the company of Prof. Reece Shearsmith performing his book tour show. We were also overjoyed by the surprise guests. No spoilers, in case they appear again. Reece's part storytelling, part memoir was published yesterday.

I notice the Sondheim Theatre has a sign displaying the casual name for their show. Should install another sign saying 'The Glums' I can't bear smug abbreviations for TV shows, ie- Strictly, Who, The Gen Game, 'Hot, Mum. I once heard Richard Griffiths say, "That happened all the time on Pie."😡

Last week, in conversation I stupidly said I needed one of those fluorescent 'hi res' jackets rather than saying 'hi vis' jackets. A FLAC jacket, perhaps? Gettin' old.
