Homemade wedding anniversary pizza. Getting better at baking. Ground beef and jalapenos down in there under all that cheese. We eloped, so a Chicago deep dish pizza was our "wedding cake."

Knew October 24th would be a good date ๐Ÿ˜

The "Gargoyles" animated series premiered on this day (Oct. 24) in 1994 with "Awakening, Part One!" One of the strongest and most influential cartoons from the 1990s, this gorgeous-looking, groundbreaking show was praised for its complex writing and characters! #Gargoyles #Disney

Learnt how puffins are the sweetest best bois who just want to be friends and belong and now I might be crying because puffins are so earnest and how can anyone wanna hurt them?! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Have loved the Flower Fairies since I was a child Makes me happy to see them around

Today's Peek-Behind-the-Curtain moment is short. I don't have much new to report. Also, I want to save some stuff for my monthly newsletter I'm hoping to launch soon. So, enjoy this book of autumn fairy poetry. I got it in the Lake District. It's by Cicely Mary Barker & published in 1926. #fairypoem

Left work last night with a new ballet wrap cardigan from my favourite colleague who couldn't return it and thought of me and it's so very me and so very snuggly I have the warm kind of happys โ˜บ๏ธ

New AI slop in the staffroom that hasn't even got a thing to do with anything here Want to barf ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿคฎ

No, you cannot simply drop your child off at daycare ten minutes before opening and expect to be accommodated anymore than you can turn up to a store ten minutes before opening and expect to shop for groceries

A year since I last travelled to Chicago I miss that city more than I've ever missed any place. Some places are just the exact shape of your heart

Reading Practical Magic and it has remarkably little dialogue It's a stylistic choice for sure but neither a strength nor a weakness I don't think. Just a choice I wasn't expecting ๐Ÿ‚

And finally, my super supportive and kind manager organised me a surprise birthday gift from the people I've *actually* worked beside for over 18 months Cried a little because I hate my role and I hate corporate but I have some wonderful colleagues and sometimes those conflicting emotions collide

Bought myself an awesome new hat a month ago Today, the 70+ year old tiny cook at the daycare walked in this morning wearing the same hat I squeed and high fived her and we gushed to the rest of the staffroom about why we love said hat so much

So psyched that one if my top tier favourite collueges joined the union I recommended to her RIGHT in time for her to need one!! I punched the air. Best kind of girls supporting girls

It's my birthday and my husband has been cooking for me all day because all my favourite foods that aren't his cooking are in the USA. He's baked me a brownie birthday cake with almond chocolate frosting Every single day I feel so loved, cherished and ridiculously lucky ๐Ÿฅฐ

The first episode of the #Suikoden anime was pretty darned good. A short list of thoughts: Heard the pacing criticized, but it was fine. Quick but not quick enough to ruin it. Character designs were solid, but you will see some differences. My only two complaints here are the Kage ninjas don't 1/

Birthday gestures from corporate more meaningful than a card disingenuously signed by strangers 1. Being given the day off automatically without it eating my PTO 2. A bonus 3. A raise

So corporate sent me a birthday card Points for getting my age right, for not being company branded and for being hand written Points docked for being nearly a week early and for every single person who signed it being a complete stranger who I've never met let alone worked with

Today in corporate childcare We're not allowed to limit the children's choices of colour when painting traffic lights because it "stifles their creativity" Colouring pages and pre cut shapes also "stifle their creativity" I wish I were making this up

Husband made me lunch for my break (he always does) Homemade potato pancakes and brownie, and that's Tapatio hot sauce in with the sour cream Best lunch ever The potato pancakes are always perfection ๐Ÿ˜‹

Back when I was living in Chicago I stepped off the bus one day one my way to a (very sadly) now closed bookstore when I looked up and found myself outside the iconic Marges Candies Took myself for an ice cream float because figured I just had to Trying to recreate it on ACNH because I miss it

Two new games later and I've now realised I'm not safe scrolling the sale section of the Nintendo Shop Husband has been instructed to confiscated my Switch if I start to

Ok ok ok....๐Ÿ˜‚ During my first week or so being in the States with my now husband I took myself out for coffee and a bagel one morning while he was at work. My British ass was SO confused the first time I asked if I wanted it Everything or plain!

Gail Simone@gailsimone.bsky.social

โ€œEverythingโ€ bagels are a lie.

An unknown colleague left a container branded with the word "Eggslut" in the staffroom and I bet it's the same one who put the dinosaur eating the gnomes in the daycare garden
