I’ve been keeping a secret for 5 years… For the first time, I’ll reveal the hidden 5th USB port on the original Xbox and how @makemhz.com spent the last year making the impossible possible with over 250,000 software patches. 🧵

As part of a collaboration with the incredibly talented @redherring32.com of Opentendo fame, we are happy to announce the OpenTendo-AGB (OpenGBA)! This is a fully open source recreation of the AGB-CPU-01 circuit board. (Repository is attached in the next post)

OpenTendo-Twin, an open source recreation of the Sharp Twin Famicom (A Famicom with a Famicom Disk System built in) is in the final stages before release. The highlighted nets are all that are left, testing and then release should happen quite soon.

Hey everyone! I’ve been a bit MIA, but for good reason. I just finished a project that’s been nearly a year in the making. Easily the biggest thing I’ve ever worked on, and I can’t wait for you to see it! Video goes LIVE tomorrow at 11AM EST!

For absolutely no real reason whatsoever, I spent the weekend creating a patch for Bug! and Bug Too! to run on modern Windows Bug!er Up fixes Windows 11 compatibility; adds support for XInput controllers, removes the CD-ROM requirement and allows custom soundtracks. github.com/LukeUsher/bu...

I'm making a portable GameCube. It's not a Wii. It'll have a directly driven 480p laminated IPS panel for the crispiest GameCube pixels you've seen. It'll have USB C PD charging. Video out over USB C. Wireless 4 player multiplayer. Oh, it'll play Gameboy games too. Don't forget the handle.

Scale is hard, but it is hardly any bigger than a GameCube disc. And not that Far off from the size of a GBA. Which to be honest after being zoomed way in designing it, absolutely caught me off guard.

It is powered by a real trimmed GameCube motherboard, a built in reverse engineered GameBoy Player and a whole lot of custom hardware. Some modules from BitBuilt community members make a variety of the features possible.

Because of difficulties getting resin parts, I've temporarily switched to design projects that I can print in FDM at home. One such project: a custom Gamecube Keyboard Controller! The shell is 3D printed, but I plan on creating a complete replacement!

I'm stoked to have finally finished the Kawaii, a fully functional metal Wii keychain. It's way smaller than it looks— only as big as a Game Boy cartridge! ✨🟦✨ Huge thanks to @weskmods.bsky.social and @dingding-cnc.bsky.social for being awesome project partners!

The Nintendo Kawaii, a collaboration project between myself, @mks.bsky.social and @dingding-cnc.bsky.social has finally been released fully open source! If you're brave enough to build one you'll have one of the most unique pieces of gaming jewellery ever. Info here: bitbuilt.net/forums/index...

Does anyone happen to have access to or know someone who has access to an Olympus Lext OLS3000 or OLS3100? Been unable to get mine to work and I don’t think its hardware failure but I have very little information as to how things should work.

🚀 Project Stellar Firmware 1.8.0 is here! Six months of deep reverse engineering, major video pipeline fixes, over 100 new display modes, GameID support, external scaler integration, and more. makemhz.com/blogs/news/p...

A new version that supports all motherboard revisions is finished, however due to tariffs and Hong Kong halting shipments to USA I'm uncertain when I will be able to test it. Hopefully sooner rather than later. :(

The first ever USB C power supply for the original Xbox is now OPEN SOURCE. 121 revision Xboxes are currently supported, 009 and 012 will come the next few days. It is licensed under TAPR , you may make, and sell it as long as you leave my name on the PCB, and share changes.

I thought I posted this here too but I guess not. Need an Xbox PSU? This is a USB C PD power supply for intact original Xbox consoles (Not portables!) I will be open sourcing it very soon.

For the people that for whatever reason *don't* like USB C PD (there's a few) it also supports using a 20V 5A barrel jack supply. This config could be cheaper as you don't HAVE TO populate the PD stuff. (More specifically anything > 12V with enough current, but 20V 5A is the recommendation)

This is the Nintendo Dataship 1200. An extremely rare Famicom with a built in network system. It's so rare, I bet you have never heard of it. Let's reverse engineer it together. Follow along for however long it takes, and I will show you how to preserve this stuff forever. :)

Do you have access to a Sharp Famicom Titler? Do you know someone who does? I need HD top down photos of the front and back of the motherboard. If you are able to get the photos, please toss them in a GDrive folder and DM me the link. Reposts are appreciated.

Though I already have a motherboard and am able to fully reverse engineer it, we know almost nothing about the revisions or revision system of the boards. If we can get photos of some of the Titler boards out there, we might be able to change this!
