After a dry writing month, December has been fertile! I'm far into outlining a book two to a book set to release early next year, I've got most of the scenes nailed down for my spicy story, and I'm getting ready to record the Stag Party audiobook soon. Watch this space!

Stayed up until 2 last night researching for the sequel to a book I have yet to release (unlike Stag Party, which is available now). Here's what I learned: If they're hungry, bats will likely flee from rats because rats will absolutely try to eat them. Gotta say, I did not see that one coming.

I'm working on audiobooks now! I'm recording two separate books - a Regency drama and a crazy SF yarn - and hopefully I'll have time to do one for Stag Party. I might release the audiobooks under my other pen name, but we'll see. In the meantime, what do you look for in an audiobook?

(1/2) The fun thing about the #InkfortPublishingDerby: a "sand cult" formed among the #writers this year. I believe it started with the #author of Sandrat's Run, but @hmbiggs.bsky.social, @rachaelelliott.bsky.social and I also added sand to our books... for the giggles 😁 📚📣 2025pubderby.carrd.co

I have an idea. A dumb idea. A fun, dumb idea. Admittedly, that's how I start most of my writing projects. And art. And... In short, ADHD. This one's gonna take a bit of leg work. That's why I'm spending today trying to learn Live2D rigging. Oh, and brainstorming the next series. Again, ADHD.

I try to keep this account apolitical (especially since the novel focuses on trans joy) but I want to say that American transphobia is a lazy remake of the UK version. In Britain, it's based on bad logic born from prejudice. In the US, they just yell random nonsense and try to legislate off it.

What's in a name? More than the drunken members of the bachelor party realize. I checked out an art bazaar this weekend. It was great talking to the artists and checking out their works. Then I saw AI pieces, and they unlocked a new level of anger. I'd get upset when I saw telltale signs of AI art, but it got worse when I started questioning whether authentic artwork was AI.

One of my main goals with Stag Party was a focus on trans joy. Logan faces off against faeries set on stealing his name and his humanity, but his identity as a trans man is rock solid. He has character flaws and self-doubts—he's human—but his transness is never one of them.

Not all of the animals in the fae lands are cute little bunnies. Meet two of the larger creatures you'll meet in Stag Party... and get ready to run. #fantasy #urbanfantasy #InkfortPressDerby

I often tell people the story about how my old school journalist coworker once laughed at me for hiring a sensitivity reader. This video from Jamie Raines (Jammidodger) does a far better job than I can of explaining why they are essential, even if you're an ally. youtu.be/1vuOOnpCPeY?...

I believe that dark stories need light and light stories need darkness. That said, I admit that I love how often I need to watch videos like this as research during my writing sessions. www.instagram.com/reel/DIINNPG...
