With the conclusion of the October 2026 #SteamNextFest I am happy I can come back to this event every 4 months but at the same time, things are starting to get a little worse. Our total amount of demos this time was just 101, which was in large part due to #NextFest getting flooded with AI slop.

I still really love seeing what people make and there were some incredible games I got to try. But with many people using AI to cut corners or even steal other game ideas, it is not easy to stay motivated to look through the whole catalogue and come back every couple of months.

I actually saw other people talk about this issue as well and I hope that, by the February 2027 Next Fest, it'll become more bareable... somehow. But regardless of these downsides, Next Fest is still an overall wonderfull event highlighting creative indie devs sharing their passion projects.
