I find it really helpful to do 2D paintovers when planning my work to block out ideas quickly. Sometimes ill go back and forth between 2d and 3d a few times, it doesnt have to just be planned out at the start. Its really nice for blocking out the big forms that are gonna impact on the silhouette.

My honest advice to anyone with impostor syndrome is to think about yourself less. These artforms have existed in some form for millennia, yet here you are in big 2026 thinking youve found a special way to fall through the gaps and trick people into thinking you're good. It's not that deep brother.
