Trump and Republicans cut Medicaid and refused to extend the ACA tax credits. Now, health insurance premiums are expected to climb again in 2027. Working families cannot keep absorbing higher costs while their paychecks fall behind. We need to lower premiums and make healthcare affordable for all.

Allegheny County set the standard and made history with the first county-level paid parental leave policy in the country. This victory reflects the power of organizing & advocacy. No parent should have to choose between a paycheck & caring for their newborn. Now it's time to guarantee paid family.

I met with the Pittsburgh Anti-War Committee to hear from community members calling for an end to the war with Iran. We cannot continue pouring resources into Trump's illegal war that costs innocent lives and billions of taxpayer dollars. No more endless wars.

Beechview is one of Pittsburgh's most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods, shaped and strengthened by generations of immigrants and working families. I was proud to celebrate Casa San Jose’s new Latino Resource and Welcome Center, which will expand access to healthcare & mental health services.

AI innovation cannot come at the expense of our communities. Data centers should not continue to be built while frontline communities are left to deal with the consequences. We need safeguards that put people, our environment, and our future first.

Trump targeting Pitt and its international scholars does nothing to strengthen our communities or our country. Scapegoating immigrants won't build a stronger future. Maybe this administration should spend less time hating immigrants and more time protecting workers' rights.

Today, on #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we honor Indigenous communities & celebrate the traditions that have been passed down for generations. We reaffirm our commitment to Indigenous sovereignty, self-determination, & a future where all Indigenous voices are heard.

Trump has attacked Rep. Ilhan Omar for years. He is vindictive, hateful, and abusive of power. This baseless raid was meant to intimidate and silence her and the communities she represents. Rep. Omar continues to stand on the right side of history and we’re right there with her.

I toured the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania’s Downtown Teen Center and heard directly from our youth helping to shape this space. I look forward to continuing to see their impactful work. When we invest in the next generation, we invest in a stronger future for everyone.

The labor movement is strong in Western PA. I was grateful to meet with local labor leaders to hear directly about what workers are facing & discuss ways to deliver solutions for working families from the federal level all the way home. We’re stronger when workers stand together.

It was wonderful to join the Homeless Children’s Education Fund to kick off Homeless Children’s Awareness Month. Children deserve to focus on being kids, not worrying about where they'll sleep that night. HCEF is working to ensure every child has that stability. I'm proud to support their mission.

Nearly 900 healthcare workers at UPMC Magee have spent 8 months negotiating their first union contract. Safe staffing means safer care. These frontline workers deserve a seat at the table and a fair contract. @deluzio.house.gov , @khanna.house.gov & I are calling on UPMC to bargain in good faith.

The workers who keep Western PA powered deserve more than our gratitude. They deserve a voice at work. Nearly 1,000 Duquesne Light workers with IBEW Local 29 are on strike, fighting for safety, job security, and a fair contract. I stand with working people.

ICE abducted Salah Sarsour for speaking out against Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Now Trump is trying to deport him after nearly 30 years in America. This is an attack on free speech and another attempt to silence Palestinian human rights advocacy. Free Salah Sarsour. Abolish ICE.

Today marks 50 years of the Hyde Amendment. For 50 years, Hyde has denied abortion coverage to millions of people who rely on federally funded health care. We cannot talk about protecting women while denying working-class people the care they need. Abortion care is health care. End Hyde.

The Trump admin is weaponizing Title IX to justify its hateful agenda, but recent events have shown we need more protections for students against sexual harassment & assault, not less. Protecting women means holding perpetrators accountable, not targeting trans students.

I'm proud to have secured federal funds for Greenfield Elementary earlier this year and introduced the Revitalizing America's Schoolyards Act to make our communities greener, safer, and more accessible. When we invest in our schools, we’re investing in futures filled with opportunity and joy.

Our communities are stronger when our small businesses can thrive. From neighborhood shops to family-owned restaurants, these businesses create jobs, build wealth, and keep our communities connected.

When I visited Moshannon Valley Detention Center, I saw no reason for it to remain open. I see even less reason for corporations like GEO Group to be awarded PA taxpayer dollars to keep it running. My colleagues & I are demanding answers about how our taxes are being used for this inhumane facility.

34 new homes. Permanent affordability. Wraparound support. Yesterday we celebrated Uptown Flats in Pittsburgh, a $22.2M investment in housing our neighbors can afford, made possible by federal affordable housing tax credits. This is what happens when we invest in housing & put people first.

Clearfield County extended its contract with ICE & GEO Group for another six months. Corporations profit off people’s pain, while politicians profit off fear. There shouldn't be earnings calls for human detention, because NO ONE should profit from people being locked in cages.

There is no justification for this. Abolish ICE.

As families across Pittsburgh face rising costs, access to clean water should never be another financial burden. Pittsburgh Water’s new debt forgiveness program helps eligible low-income households eliminate past-due balances over 24 months while staying current on new bills.

Allegheny County has more automated license plate readers than anywhere else in PA, including 192 Flock cameras. Public safety shouldn't come at the cost of our fundamental right to privacy. We need oversight & accountability for surveillance technology that has become the norm.

The press exists to inform the public, not cater to the president's feelings. A free press is an indication of a healthy democracy. We are no longer there.
