Under Amendment 6, it will be far more difficult for the politicians to defy the voters — that’s the whole idea. But – it will not be impossible, despite what some opponents say.

Is a bipartisan vote too much to ask, before the politicians are allowed to tell the voters their voices don’t matter? If you think not, vote YES on Amendment 6.

Missouri Amendment 6 can put a stop to these shenanigans. It is a non-partisan provision that prohibits politicians from overturning our votes, protects our right to pass citizen initiatives, and requires ballot language to be clear and accurate. Vote "Yes" on Amendment 6 on Nov. 3."

We've got a generous donor who is willing to match up to $20,000 in sustaining donations through the end of October. Right now we’re at $8,706. That means $11,294 to go with 6 days left in October. Can you help us close the gap?

What you cannot do – what is and should be truly impossible to do – is get to that 80% threshold on a party line vote. The only way to do so is through bipartisan agreement. Once again, that’s the idea behind Amendment 6.

The fact is that 80% majorities in the General Assembly are not uncommon. In 2026, more than 31% of all bills passed and sent to the Governor passed in each chamber by 80% or more.

In a recent Kansas City Star article, Missouri House Speaker Jon Patterson stated that he opposed Amendment 6 because the vote it requires of the General Assembly to repeal or amend citizen-initiated laws is impossibly high.

“We send the legislature to Jefferson City every year to make the laws of our state,” Patterson said. “I’m not sure you’ll find 80% of them that agree on any issue.” That statement is categorically false, and Speaker Patterson surely knows it.

That is what Amendment 6 will do – requiring an 80% majority in each chamber of the legislature to initiate a repeal, and then a second vote of the citizens who approved the measure in the first place.
