I saw a post about “Would you really be willing to give up AI? Could you really get thru your work day without AI?!” And I just thought, son, I’m older than Google. I’m schooled in the ancient ways of finding information. And frankly, I miss roaming the stacks.

This post is unavailable.

🧵 This week I need to focus on my climate grief practice more than ever. Between the devastation in Nepal and the news about passing 1,5 C by 2030 (if not sooner, let's be honest, the UN lags), I am doing two things regularly:

(1) Reminding myself that 2 things can be true: there is suffering, and there will be more, BUT ALSO there are people all over the world working on holistic, systemic solutions that support equity and a just transition into this new climate.

(2) Allowing myself to feel; thanking those feelings for drawing my attention to something I care about; and releasing them bc they've done their job and now I will do mine, which is to take action.

Back by popular demand! We'll explore courage, connection, alignment, and joy in biweekly sessions (Tues OR Thurs, you pick!). Join us for 1 or all 4. Each offers a guided visualisation followed by group discussion. Learn more/register via link in comments. #leadership #sustainability

I’m such a nerd, I had a dream that I bought 3 books on a topic I’m researching. They had beautiful covers. (Please note I’m rarely in a bookstore with books written in English, so this was a very exciting dream.)

The richest 1% produce more carbon pollution than the poorest 66% of humanity combined. Climate justice isn’t optional. It’s the only kind of climate action that actually works. #ClimateJustice #SystemChange

There’s so much climate doomsday news, what’s your favorite way to invite people to build something beautiful? How do you find joy in the work? How do you appreciate the little things and let them fuel you? Asking for the world.

Also, you’re not a hypocrite or complicit for being born in a system you didn’t create and not living “perfectly green.” If you’re *trying* to make the world better, you’re not complicit, you’re resisting.

For far too long, conservative parties have controlled the story, making it about the economy OR the environment, and painting environmentalists as extremists. But now, it’s plain to see that everything we have, our clothes/food/home/the quality of our lives, comes from Nature.

Hey algorithm, connect me with people working on: - bioregional governance - regenerative practices - climate justice - approaches to healing law, culture, the human-nature relationship - ocean anything - art making

We used to live slow lives. We can again. And the more I learn about climate and equity, it appears more and more to be a critical form of resistance and a key piece of a liveable, enjoyable future.

People getting arrested for starting fires or having BBQs that get out of hand, yet the politicians and world leaders that cotinue to do nothing to prevent this run away climate change go free. World leaders are allowing this disaster to continue a d must be held responsible

I speak English, Deutsch und a bissl Bayerish, mon français n'est pas mauvais, y aprendo español, pero la mujer was mad I didn’t speak her mother tongue. I don’t want to assume anything about why she was upset. But we’ll all have it easier if we are gentle with each other. 💖

Why must so many appliances and eletronics have the most obnoxious beeping? We are programming these things, if they must make noise, can’t it be a lovely noise?! Laundry, dishes, contactless payments—these are not emergencies yet they beep like 5 alarm fires. Enough.

These sheep graze this beautiful field in Uppsala not far from my sister’s place as part of a city-farmer collab to improve soil. Recently shorn, they also provide wool. And they’re freakin’ adorable, so they also provide joy 💖

Just fantastic.

One of the most fascinating facts about the ocean, is that there are whales alive today who were born before Moby Dick was written. Some of the bowhead whales in the icy waters off of Alaska today are over 200 years old. Original post

I’ve noticed most comments (here and everywhere) tend to be “doom & gloom” which doesn’t actually help nor inspire. There’s a fight we can be part of to build a future we love. Here are some examples: www.dailyclimate.org/good-news/

The IMF says we pay $5T/year to subsidize fossil fuels — that's $13M per MINUTE to destroy our future. Meanwhile solar & wind fight for scraps. We don't have a funding problem. We have a priority problem.

Free Air Con: hang a wet towel in an open window. The towel cools the breeze (if there is one) as it enters. It’s past time for cities to plant trees and create green spaces equitably! (Also those green spaces should double as food forests.) #heatwave #airconditioning #aircon

🌍 Climate change is a public health crisis—and an equity crisis. Dr. Rohan Radhakrishna of @CAPublicHealth shares how CA is partnering with vulnerable communities to build resilience. 🎥 Watch the full convo: youtu.be/bFfS6v6fVqM?... #ClimateHealth #PublicHealth #Equity #ClimateJustice

Glass beverage bottles used to be returned, sterilised, and refilled hundreds of times before needing to be made into a new glass bottle. A few nations continue this success despite beverage companies lobbying against it. We must bring back the glass bottle as standard. #plasticfreejuly

"Farmers are always getting screwed, whether it's wheat or seaweed." This is why I'm creating both a nonprofit guide and a grassroots community guide that provide a holistic approach to restorative ocean communities; not just an ocean farm, a local network of resilience!

Everything in my personal life, my research, and my work experience has repeatedly confirmed that care is the fabric holding us, and society at large, together. Where have you seen this in your life or your work?

Happy World Orca Day! (belated, it was yesterday). I discovered embroidery and am having so much fun. I was trying cross-stitch, but found it easier to think of the thread as lines, like drawing. So I'm free-handing it all. #oceanart #marineart #orca #whales #embroidery

What Does the Ocean Want Us to Grow? was my most popular #LCAW2026 webinar. I didn't answer the question; I helped build everyone's capacity to answer it for themselves because the only correct answers are place-based. New post on ecologies of scale v economies of scale. link in comments.

Imagine an "idealistic" future. Take a minute. Breathe. Now, who told you it's idealistic? Who told you we can't do that? What do they stand to gain from you thinking it's impossible? #sustainability #radicalimagination #futurisms

My talk "What Does the Ocean Want Us to Grow?" at #LCAW is almost at capacity. I am so moved that people are hungry for this type of question, this type of tangible, systemic change that restores ecosystems and local culture. .. #UKsustainability #oceanart #marineart #biodiversity
