This is an excerpt from the 1985 Documentary “Goin’ to Town” by BC Transit about the upcoming opening of the Vancouver Skytrain. I first saw the video in 2015 and soon after got the soundtrack stuck in my head for the next four years. God it’s so fucking good

You stupid motherfucker. You goddamn cretin. You too-turtley-for-the-turtle-club motherfucker.

Still kinda baffled about a conversation I had with an engineer one night about taking transit to work instead of driving. I have a truck, a lovely ford ranger that I adore and cherish and hate taking to work, I’ve seen folks having crises on transit, (cont’d-)

There’s just something so humbling & unifying? Idk, of course there’s the reliability and savings and physical exercise that come with a transit commute that I always appreciate. But this guy had it in his head that transit’s just something you gotta put up with till you can afford a car. ->

That like, nobody would willingly take transit if they didn’t have to. Guy’s never even taken the seabus! I don’t want to pry but like, I do want to get why he thinks that way, I wanna know how to change that opinion.

I’ve gotten vomit on my shoe from a kid who partied a little too hard, ive seen folks in all sorts of situations. But I still wouldn’t trade it for the truck. I love this city with a passion, the slice of life you get on the skytrain or bus is honestly fantastic. ->

just so everyone knows, this weekend (Saturday and Sunday only!) is the one weekend a year you can watch Great Pumpkin on Apple TV+ for free (still requires the Apple Account tho). alternatively, i have a better idea! happy halloween, happy fall. love you all.

Time to start vehicular cycling en masse very poorly

Toronto bike lane removal. When your infrastructure project has huge police protection and the contractors hide the logos on their trucks and gear, you are in the wrong.

Someone’s really gotta redraw delta What do you mean that’s north delta? That’s left Surrey. From here on out delta is exactly what it says on the tin. Ladner, boundary bay and tsawwassen. The delta (that’s not already Richmond)

I did a thing!!! GET OUT AND VOTE

Have you voted in the municipal election yet? You can vote in advance TODAY if you live in Coquitlam, City of North Vancouver, Vancouver, or White Rock. You can vote in advance TOMORROW if you live in City of Langley, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, City of North Vancouver, or Surrey.

On my nightly walk to work there’s a house in the throes of renovation, I walked by today and was face to face with a dump truck sitting in their front lawn. For some reason I made a high pitched oooooo in awe?? Is this the estrogen talking?
